Daily Numbers Thread: 09/26/17

Today’s thread is brought to you by the number 2, 3 and 19.

Cardi B becomes the first female rapper in 19 years to get an unassisted (no features) number one song on the Hot 100. The last artist to do that was Lauryn Hill. “Bodack Yellow” replaces Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do”. Post Malone’s “Rockstar” debuts at number 2 on the chart and number one on digital and streams. You’ll see it actually has fewer streams than “Bodack Yellow” and Billboard goes onto explain that the numbers it reports in its Hot 100 round-up are raw streams, but when calculating the number one streamer, on-demand streams have a higher value than programmed streams (e.g. Pandora).

Just as we did yesterday, Billboard also noted that Niall Horan became the second member of One Direction to top the Pop Songs Charts. They also went onto note that One Direction became the second group to have two members top the Pop chart in their solo endeavours. Beyonce and Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child were the first. The article also goes onto mention that One Direction itself never topped the Pop Radio chart with “What Makes You Beautiful” being their highest charter peaking at 3rd. HDD also notes that Niall urns Capitol its first Pop Number one since August of 2014.

The Killers are set to have their first number one album this week.
