Daily Numbers Thread 06/25/2019

Today’s thread is brought to you by the numbers 1 and 2.

It’s a blast from the past on the Billboard 200. 80’s nostalgia is now a thing and why not on the music charts as well? This week, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are 1-2 on the album chart and that hasn’t happened since 1985. Madonna’s “Madame X” moves 95K equivalent albums while Springsteen’s “Western Stars” tracks for 66K. Back in 85, it was Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” at 1 with Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” holding down the number 2 spot.

Over on the Hot 100, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” is growing old on the top of the chart as it spends its 12th week at number 1. Taylor Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down” (whose video includes tonnes of cameos including Idol’s Todrick Hall (who helped produce it) and Adam Lambert) is number 2
