Yesterday, Crystal Bowersox met with Obama administration officials at the White House to discuss diabetes awareness.
Crystal was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 6 years old
The Idol runner-up, in Washington DC to perform with the Top 10 Idols tonight, took time out of her busy schedule to advocate for federal funding for type 1 diabetes research.
She told USA Today that when she realized she had the day before the Idol concert off, she called the JDRF herself and setup a meeting.
“I made it a point to do so, ” said Crystal.

“I’m trying to make a difference, ” she says. And, she would love to serenade Barack Obama some day…
