Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze Top 3 On The Scene: The Coin Toss, On Winning and More.

Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze are on their way to the American Idol 9 finals. In the wake of that sweet victory during last night’s Top 3 results show, they met with the press. Keep checking back to this space for interviews as they roll in.

By the way, here’s an on-the-scene report of last night’s customary coin-toss. (Crystal won, allowing her to choose her performance order)  Read more at EW HERE.

But when Ryan tossed the coin and it landed in Crystal’s favor, the young mother turned to the former paint shop employee and said, “If I go second, promise not to hate me?” Lee sort of shrugged and smiled, as if to say, “What, I’m going to say I hate you for taking the finale pimp slot while cameras are in my face?” And then Crystal made it official: “I’ll do second.” Maybe MamaSox has a killer instinct to win after all.

Well, we totally know Lee wants to win.  I’ve  sensed Crystal was a little ambivalent, but maybe not!

On why viewers should vote for them:

Crystal: “Hopefully, they like me and if they want to hear my songs and what I have to say after the show …’ she says, before shifting gears. “I need lots of money to give to charities and to start my foundation for juvenile diabetes. It’s not for research. It’s for taking care of issues now. … My goal is to set up something where there can be screening clinics where once you have the diagnosis, they can treat the problem and pharmaceutical companies can donate medicine and supplies. That’s my goal … People should never go without insulin. In my life at points, I’ve begged for insulin outside of pharmacies and no one should ever have to do that.”

Lee: “I can’t tell viewers why to pick me. I’m going to perform next week and I know I’m going to give it everything I have. Hopefully, I’ll give them a reason to pick me.”

Melissa Etheridge was at Tuesday’s performance show. She spoke to The LA Times about Crystal’s performance of her song “Come Through My Window”. She’s proud of Crystal, but it turns out she didn’t like the arrangement either:

And what did Etheridge think? “That’s a hard song to do in a minute in a half, ” the Grammy- and Oscar-winning artist told Idol Tracker just before heading backstage to say hello to the Top 3. “Crystal works it, she brings it out in the end, and I love her voice.”

Web No stranger to hearing her songs on “Idol, ” Etheridge then played the role of judge for a minute, admitting (with a laugh) that she agreed with Randy and “didn’t like the arrangement, either.” What didn’t jibe about it? “I could tell she was trying to pick different parts of [the song] out and get that bridge in that everybody loves, ” said Etheridge, sheepishly. “But I feel so protective of her now!”
