Clay Aiken – Bill Maher Rips the Candidate (VIDEO)

It’s November! And, here in the US, the first Tuesday of the month is election day. It’s the moment of truth for Democrat, Clay Aiken, as he faces off against the incumbent Republican, Renee Ellmers,  for the North Carolina second district Congressional seat.

On a recent Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill Maher took Clay to task for not going after the liberal base in North Carolina that the American Idol season 2 runner-up “could have energized.”  Instead, the former singer focused on “this pipe dream of trying to make the Duck Dynasty types vote for a guy who had his eyebrows done.”

Rebublaiken anyone?  It always seemed like a lost cause for Clay to make a go for Republican votes. Ellmers is the incumbent, and seems to reflect the party’s values pretty well. Why not shore up the demos in the district?  If Clay decides to run for office again, any Democrat he faces in the primary is sure to bring up his pandering to the right.

Bill Maher is sure that Clay’s rejection of help from other Democrats, like President Barack Obama, and his refusal to embrace the left will result in another second place finish, just like on American Idol in 2004 (And Celebrity Apprentice a few years ago!)

The clip ends with Maher chastising Clay for avoiding hot button issues like marriage equality. “On gay marriage, Clay Aiken said, ‘It’s not an issue that’s really on the radar here. It’s not something that affects people’s daily lives’,”  Maher snarked, “Well. It affects some of them. Like. I don’t know. YOU.”

“And this is why Clay Aiken is definitely going to lose.” declared Maher, “He’s having trouble getting the Clay Aiken vote.”  BURN!

We’ll be watching the polls on Tuesday and posting the results here! Do join us.

Also, Scott Brown (R), the father of American Idol season 5 contestant, Ayla Brown, is running for US Senate in New Hampshire. He’s currently behind in the polls against incumbent, Jeanne Shaheen.
