One of the highlights of American Idol 14 was Clark Beckham’s soulful version of “Earned It” by The Weeknd, performed during Top 4 week. It was arguably one of the performances of the night. The singer’s bluesey version wowed fans and the judges alike.
Clark eventually finished the competition in 2nd place. But that’s OK. The singer/songwriter/instrumentalist is currently hard at work, writing and playing music. As a treat for fans, the singer just released an acoustic, piano driven version of “Earned It.” Without the pressure of live television, and the luxury of stretching the performance out to its full 3 plus minutes, Clark is REALLY able to do the cover justice. I think I like this better than the Idol version. And I liked the Idol version quite a lot.
Beginning July 7, in Clearwater FL, the American Idol 14 Top 5 will embark on the American Idol Live tour. Could this cover be a little sneak peak of Clark’s set list? Hm…
