Chayce Beckham “23” Tops Billboard Charts, Plays Kimmel (Video)

Chayce Beckham "23" Jimmy Kimmel Live

Even before Chayce Beckham won American Idol last Sunday night (May 23) his self-penned original song “23” hit No 1 on iTunes. It sat in the top spot for days before  “Astronaut in the Ocean” by Masked Wolf knocked him down to No 2. Now, two versions of BTS’ “Butter” sit in the No. 1 and 2 positions, while Olivia Rodrigo’s “good 4 u” takes the No. 3 spot. Chayce’s “23” sits at No. 4 while “Astronaut in the Ocean” is at No 5 behind BTS’ “Dyanamite.”

Chayce Beckham’s 23 charts at No 1 and N0 3 on the country and overall digital charts

Meanwhile, the Billboard charts are out, and “23” bows at No 1 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. The tune sits at No 3 on the overall Digital Songs Chart, behind “Astronaut in the Ocean” at No 2 and Nicki Minaj, Drake & Lil Wayne’s “Seeing Green” at No 1. On Hot Country Songs, “23” enters at No. 25. “23” debuted on the Emerging Artists chart at No 3.

Chayce is the only songwriter credited on “23,” and the first American Idol winner to release a coronation single written by themselves. It’s quite an accomplishment!

Now that the American Idol season is over, Chayce plans to move to Nashville and record a record. He told TV Insider, “Most of my record is already written. I have multiple songs. I just have to go through them and find what songs fit and get them recorded and have some singles out and hopefully drop a record soon.” Chayce added, “It’s going to be country music. It’s what I want to do and the career I have been chasing for the last few years.”

Reportedly he and fellow American Idol contestant Graham DeFranco plan to room together!

Wednesday night, the country singer hit the Jimmy Kimmel Live stage to perform his gritty post-Idol debut. Watch the performance below. The performance of “23” of the first full rendition played on a big stage.
