An Entertainment Weekly source claims Mariah Carey is deep in negotiations with FOX to take a seat on the American Idol judges panel (but for a lesser paycheck than The Wrap is reporting).

EW also reports that Randy Jackson is likely to stay and that FOX is considering Adam Lambert as a low budget option.

Randy talks about the passing of Whitney Houston. Although he hadn’t spoken with her recently, he work with her in the past. He talked about his own problems with drugs and alcohol–which is something I’ve never heard him mention.
