An Entertainment Weekly source claims Mariah Carey is deep in negotiations with FOX to take a seat on the American Idol judges panel (but for a lesser paycheck than The Wrap is reporting).

EW also reports that Randy Jackson is likely to stay and that FOX is considering Adam Lambert as a low budget option.
