What would Freddie do? Adam Lambert on fronting Queen and holding back – Last year he bought his first home in Hollywood, and he’s casting about for a place – perhaps New York or London – to buy another. He’s not short of a few baubles, either. He has received multiple awards and a Grammy nomination. His first album, For Your Entertainment, went platinum in Australia, while 2012’s follow-up, Trespassing, went to number one in the US Billboard chart. Lambert enjoys seeing the whites of the audience’s eyes, and has absorbed every trick in the book when it comes to making each member feel singled out. “I could say that I naturally have a certain type of intensity,” he says, “and I’ve found that performing on stage has been the best outlet for that. In some ways I feel more comfortable on stage than I do in other social situations. Maybe it’s selfish and narcissistic, but maybe I’m a little of both of those things.” – Read more at the Sydney Morning Herald

Rockford Rocked chats with local American Idol contestant – Tristan Bushman: It is quite the process, but they definitely don’t just throw you up there in front of the celebrity judges. There are two-three auditions you have to go through to get to that point. I auditioned over Skype for my first audition, which was in front of executive producers. From there I got the news I made the cut and would be auditioning in San Francisco. So a few weeks later I was in San Francisco auditioning in front of the executive producers in person. I made that cut, and later that day I was auditioning in front of Keith, Jennifer and Harry. It’s definitely a nerve racking day, and you see and feel a lot of emotions, but it’s an experience I’ll remember for the rest of my life! – Read more at Rock River Times

Crawford Cowgirl Chases the “American Idol” Dream – With a golden ticket in hand, Jeneve Rose Mitchell is coming down from the mountains in Crawford and heading to Hollywood, California as she continues her journey on FOX’s American Idol. “I never really imagined that I would be at this point where I am right now. Its insane and it’s really hard to believe,” Mitchell said. Earlier this month during the Denver audition, all three celebrity judges unanimously voted to advance Mitchell all the way to Hollywood, which came as no surprise to her family and friends. Carrie Underwood Turns Down ?the Volume On ‘Heartbeat’ – She has one of the most powerful voices in the business, so Carrie Underwood has a unique challenge with ballads: She admits that dialing back and capturing intimacy is difficult. That’s true not only in performances, but even when she’s creating new music. “I do it to myself,” she confesses. “Even in writing I’m like, ‘Where’s the money note? Where’s the money note? We need something in there.’ But I started realizing I need songs to give myself a break. I have some really difficult songs, and I have way too much pride to drop the key. So if I want to stop killing myself, in the beginning of the tour at least, I need to stop trying to do [so much].” – Read more at Billboard

Jennifer Lopez on How American Idol Changed Her: “It Helped Me Grow as a Performer” – “I went into this room, and it was like I was the biggest star in the room, with Steven Spielberg and George Clooney and this, every A-list star you could think of wanted to know about Idol. ‘Who do you think is going to win? What’s going to happen? Oh, my God, I love so and so,’” she said. “And I couldn’t believe it… It’s just been the most incredible journey, not just for me, but I realized the impact that it had. That’s when I really noticed it. And I said, ‘Wow, this is something that I am so fortunate to be a part of.” – Read more at InStyle
