Castro, comprised of American Idol 7 finalist Jason Castro, Hollywood contestant and younger brother, Michael and little sis Jackie debut “Automatic,” a brand new song from the band’s forthcoming EP, Diamond Dreams.
“’Automatic’ is a song about falling into a crazy, beautiful, instant, life-changing, magical kind of love that you can’t explain,” the band told the Boot in a recent interview. “It’s about finding that person that makes your soul sing and brings you to life.”
We knew this song was special from the very beginning. We wrote the chorus and, about a year later, sat back down together to finish something we couldn’t get out of our heads. We hope people fall in love with ‘Automatic’ the way we did.”

The EP was recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville and produced by Charlie Peacock (the Civil Wars, Kris Allen). The band co-wrote all seven songs on the set, which will be available for pre-order on Friday (July 15). Jason told The Boot that the trio’s direction is in line with the folk/Americana vibe of acts like Of Monsters & Men and the Lumineers.
It’s the style of music that he wished he was allowed to make at the beginning of post-Idol career.
