Cassadee Pope transforms “Wasting All These Tears” Into a Pop/Punk Anthem

Cassadee Pope Wasting All These Tears

The Voice 3 winner Cassadee Pope transforms her 10 year old country single “Wasting All These Tears” into a pop/punk banger.

Cassadee Pope has recently pivoted back to her pop/punk roots after releasing country music for a decade. After winning The Voice season 3 in 2012, the singer embarked on a country music career after spending the aughts performing at alt-rock music festivals with her pop/punk band Hey Monday.

But now, with pop/punk making a comeback, the singer returns to her roots with singles such as “People That I Love Leave” and “Almost There.” What better time to pull a Taylor Swift move and reimagine her first country single “Wasting All These Tears” as a pop/punk banger?

Originally released 10 years ago, “Wasting All These Tears (Cassadee’s Version)'” was produced by Cassadee and former Hey Monday bandmate, Alex Lipshaw.

“It’s a song I’ll be performing for the rest of my career”

“‘Wasting All These Tears’ changed my life when it came out ten years ago,” Cassadee says in a press statement. “It’s a song I’ll be performing for the rest of my career and one that’s managed to take on many new lives.”

She continues, “In my move back to my pop punk roots, I wanted to take WATT with me. I thought who better to produce this with me than my old band mate, Alex Lipshaw, from Hey Monday? The process was cathartic and sentimental… We truly did have the best time making this new version. ‘Wasting All These Tears (Cassadee’s Version)’ feels like a true depiction of the angst and frustration in the lyrics… it feels like coming home.”

The accompanying music video for the track, directed by Erika Rock and shot in Nashville, TN under the light of the Super Blue Moon, recently made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and MTV Biggest Pop.

Having started her career as the frontwoman of the pop-punk band, Hey Monday, “People That I Love Leave” marked a return to form for Cassadee. Following that, she shared her most recent single, “Almost There,” co-written by Cassadee, Nick Furlong (blink-182, 5 Seconds of Summer, Papa Roach) and Christina Galligan (Gnash, Aespa) and produced by Furlong. The bold and sensual track capsulates feeling comfortable in your own body.

Cassadee also recently joined fellow vocalist Taylor Acorn for her latest single, “Coma.” Co-written by Cassadee, Taylor and Dan Swank (All Time Low).
