Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley to Co-Host CMA Awards for a 3rd Year

The Associated Press and GAC’s Headline Country have confirmed that Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will return as cohosts of the CMA Awards for the 3rd year running.

The 44th Annual CMA Awards will air on Wednesday, November 10 2010 on ABC starting at 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central.

The official press release from the Country Music Association includes this statement from CMA Chief Executive Officer Steve Moore:

“Carrie and Brad have done a tremendous job hosting and we are very happy to have them back again this year. They have developed a natural rhythm and have a great rapport with the audience – both in the house and our fans watching at home. They each have a great sense of humor and timing, which are two essential ingredients for hosting a live awards broadcast.”

Brad Paisley was in with a quip as usual, according to the tweeted:

Thrilled @BradPaisley and Carrie Underwood will again host the CMAs. They make my job easy & fun. No joke’s about which one is easy.

The Boot has more from this morning’s press conference, in which Brad & Carrie confirmed that their dogs do not get along with each other.

Brad and Carrie also discussed the importance of CMA Awards night when it comes to showcasing the talent in country music, according to CMT.com

“I think it’s our Oscars. That’s the best way I can describe it, ” Paisley said. “Country music is such a wide spectrum these days, and it really always has been. Any time someone is a new viewer, they are very pleasantly surprised at what they relate to — and what they like that they may have had no interest in prior. I think it’s the most important night of the year for country music for that reason alone. You reach all of these new people.””There’s so much talent in one room, ” Underwood noted. “You won’t watch the performances and go away disappointed.”

Steph in the City of WKRN Nashville has some pictures from this morning’s press conference. She reports that:

The hosting couple said they will have more control this year over the content. Brad and Carrie say they plan to touch on the amazing recovery from the Nashville Flood and on a lighter note, Carrie’s big wedding to hockey player Mike Fisher.

The Associated Press reports that Carrie’s wedding to NHL hockey player Mike Fisher will be fodder for some jokes during this year’s ceremony. During the press conference, Brad and Carrie traded jokes about costume changes as well as Brad’s wedding gift to Carrie & Mike.

The two joked about Paisley’s wedding gift to Underwood, a bowl, which Paisley said his wife picked out.

“Is it something you wanted or it’s in the pile of re-gift items?” asked Paisley.

“You’re going to get it back three Christmases from now, ” said Underwood.

Brad Paisley also tweeted his reaction to the news by trying to give the hosting duo its own nickname:

Those crazy nutty CMAs have asked Carrie and I to host again. Here we go. The comedic stylings of Carebrad. Or Paisleywood. Or Underpaisley.

  1. I think Carrie picked out that dress color specially for Truthiness ;)

I’m excited about this!! Brad & Carrie have awesome cohost chemistry. They were especially funny last year with the song parodies. Here’s their opening monologue from last year’s show:

Nominations will be announced in a 2 day event next week. Nominations in 7 categories will be announced on August 31st at the Ryman and then nominations in 5 categories will be announced on Good Morning America on Wednesday September 1st which coincidentally is also the day when ABC’s got the primetime special “CMA Music Fest: Country’s Night To Rock” on from 8 PM Eastern to 11 PM Eastern, featuring many country acts including Kellie Pickler and Carrie from the AI family.

  2. Good decision by the CMA. Carrie & Brad are great hosts and have awesome chemistry. Very fun to watch.

  3. So excited, finally the official announcement Brad & Carrie hosting for CMA. They are good team with great chemistry, I believe they gonna bring the fresh funny skits ;)

  4. Hmm, Sony artists at the helm of the CMA Awards. They seem to really do a top-notch job of promoting their country acts. Is it too much to hope Casey will be in attendance?

  5. Love Carrie!

Should be there OvenMitt. Danny Gokey was there. He did all the radio staion interviews in November of 2009 associated with the CMAs. Lots of videos and photo coverage. Casey is going to do great.

    Never change Brad.

I think that Casey will probably be there as well. Danny got to do a lot of interviews with country radio stations and go to walk the red carpet last year for the CMA’s. It ended up being pretty beneficial to him. I think that the same thing could happen for Casey, more than likely he probably will be there.

  8. I remember how exciting it was last year, seeing Danny on the red carpet. We’re more used to it now but his first time was really cool. I remember he was included in one or two of those post-show fashion reviews and got a big thumbs up, I think he got an A or A-. I hope Casey fans get to join in the fun this year too, it really is fun to see them all dressed up and mingling with the country greats. Here’s a photo of Danny on the red carpet last year…

I never get used to it Josie! I loved it when he received a couple of A grades for his look last year- it was so much fun.

This year I will get two hot AI guys to fangirl over- Danny and Casey!
At least I hope Danny is there and not doing a concert somewhere. I’m sure Casey’s label will make it a #1 priority for him to be there, being so new to the genre.
