Blake Shelton Skits Saturday Night Live

The Voice coach, Blake Shelton, pulled double duty on Saturday Night Live this week (1/24/15). The singer was both host and musical guest! Besides performing “Neon Light” and Boys ‘Round Here,” Blake also appeared in many of the skits throughout the show.

Check out a couple of the best bits right here! I uploaded the best myself, Tomorrow I may add a few more from Hulu.

Blake’s opening monologue, a parody of Hee Haw, featured a slew of cast members.  If you’re too young to remember Hee Haw, Blake describes it pretty accurately. It was a variety show that was like a cross between Laugh-In and Deliverance.  The jokes were SUPER CORNY. Nevertheless, it aired in syndication for YEARS. The joke is that the young cast tries to get in on the corny humor, but keep telling edgy and tasteless jokes that piss Blake off.  Leslie Jones is the one to watch in this skit.

Ha ha. They went there. It’s Celebrity Family Feud: The Voice vs Idol! Kenan Thompson plays the host. Blake is himself, of course, while Taran Killam is Adam Levine, Jay Pharoah, Pharrell and Cecily Strong, Christina Aguilera. On the Idol side, they let Jennifer Lopez off of the hook. Maybe they was skeerd. In any case, the most HILARIOUS impersonation was the divine KATE MCKINNON AS KEITH URBAN. OMG it’s the best. Sasheer Zamata is Nicki Minaj, Beck Bennett as Harry Connick Jr. and Kyle Mooney as Steven Tyler. The bit ends with Blake and Adam finally admitting they have the hots for each other. The parody was rather toothless it would have been funnier if the focus had been the rivalry between the two shows Kate McKinnon basically wins everything in this skit.

This next skit has Blake guesting on a local Topeka morning show with a man who just lost his wife. Blake, plays a local musician who set lyrics written by the man, a supposedly grieving widow, to music. As Blake sings the song, it starts out sweet enough, but by the second verse? NOT SO MUCH. Bobby Moynihan and Sasheer Zamata play the hosts. Taran Killam plays the local man, in a ton of old people makeup, while Kate McKinnon is the wife in photos that flash on the screen behind them. The pictures get crazier and more hilarious as the song turns darker.

Deflategate! Cold opening – New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick (Beck Bennett) and quarterback Tom Brady (Taran Killam) reveal who was really responsible for the deflated footballs.

Blake Shelton, Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon star in the country music video for “Wishin’ Boot.” This bit would have been spot on if it had mocked trucks and beer.

Farm Hunk – A group of women (Cecily Strong, Vanessa Bayer, Kate McKinnon, Sasheer Zamata, Aidy Bryant, Leslie Jones) compete for the affections of a hunky farmer (Blake Shelton) on reality dating series Farm Hunk. A take on the current the Bachelor starring farmer, Chis Soules, this bit started off promisingly, but then fizzled out pretty fast.

A prisoner (Kenan Thompson) pleads his case but the parole board is not so easily swayed, especially because of his cannibalism. – Kenan is hilarious.

An audience member (Blake Shelton) heckles a magician (Taran Killam) until he grants him the power to go down on himself.Hm….

Weekend Update Part 1 – Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che tackle the week’s biggest news, including President Obama’s comeback at the State of the Union and the Patriots’ cheating accusations. Riblet (Bobby Moynihan) stops by.

Weekend Update Part 2 – Death of the inventor of instant replays. Pete Davidson and Michael Che’s ex-girlfriend Nicole (Sasheer Zamata) stop by.
