Billboard Update – 2/17/07

Check out this week’s  Idol Billboard Chart, lovingly compiled by yours truly.   I try to post the latest charts by Thursday evening.   Click the  “Current Charts” tab, found along the bottom of the header.

  • Katharine McPhee is all over the charts this week.   Her debut CD comes in at #2 behind Nora Jones on the  Billboard 200 and Top Digital Albums.   Her single, “Over  It” is #48 on the Billboard Hot 100, #40 on the Pop 100, and #44 on the Pop 100 Airplay.   She also appears on the digital charts–#25 on Hot Digital Tracks and #32 on Hot Digital Songs.
  • A fun fact from  Billboard Magazine: “Counting the 10 artists who have finished in either first or second place in the five seasons of “Idol, ” all but two have started in the top 10 with their debut album.”
  • Carrie Underwood’s new single “Wasted” debuts on the Hot 100 at #94.   You can check the video for Wasted here.   “Before He Cheats” debuts on the Pop 100 Airplay at #49.
  • Ruben Studdard’s new single “Make Ya Feel Beautiful” debuts on the Hot Adult R&B Airplay at #29.
  • Kellie Pickler’s new single “I Wonder” debuts on Hot Country Singles and Tracks at #60.
  • Chris Daughtry’s single continues to climb on the Billboard charts.   “It’s Not Over” is currently #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, #15 on the Hot 100 Airplay, #3  on the Pop 100, #7 on the Pop 100 Airplay.    It’s #5 on Hot Adult Top 40 and is still climbing the rock charts–#12 on Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and #30 on Hot Modern Rock Tracks.
  • The first single from Taylor Hicks’ debut album, “Just to Feel That Way”  was released to radio this week. Watch for it to debut on the Billboard charts in the coming weeks.
  • Not on the charts but pimping anyway – There is a preview of Elliott Yamin’s new CD posted at AOL.com  including a full version of his upcoming single “Moving On”   The single will be released digitally on February 13.   The debut album is scheduled to drop on March 20.
  • Interesting:   Seal’s 1995 hit “Kiss From a Rose” pops up on the Hot Digital Songs chart this week at #58.   Weird, huh?   Not really–Chris Sligh re-introduced the song to millions of people when he performed  it during the Birmingham audition episode last week…
