X Factor UK winner, Ben Haenow, released his first single, “Second Hand Heart” last week, with none other than original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson as a special guest vocalist.
Now, the official music video is out. Shot in and around Nashville, Ben plays a lovelorn man, looking for his “second chance.” He leaves the farm to walk, jog, hitchhike, and finally hop on a bike to get to his lady. Meanwhile, Kelly pours her heart out in song, until the big surprise twist! The lady Ben is so desperate to get to is Kelly. The last shots are Ben finally greeting Kelly at her her front door.
One odd thing about the video: Ben and Kelly don’t have any scenes together, really. When they finally are together, you see a shot of Kelly from the back, closeups of Ben and Kelly’s faces. The end. If not for the photographic evidence above, I’d assume they didn’t shoot any of it together (It’s easy enough to get stand ins for pov shots).
The video is beautiful, featuring picturesque scenes of the countryside, which are slowly taken over by shots of the big city Nashville. Also, “Second Hand Heart” is a really good song! I hope that it’s at least a hit in the UK.
