The new Band Aid single will receive its world premiere on ITV’s X Factor results show this Sunday, November 16!
One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Emeli Sande, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, Bastille, Foals, Chris Martin and Bono are set to enter the studio to record a new version of the iconic 1984 charity single, “Do They Know It’s Christmas.” Yes. Do the math. It’s the 30th anniversary! The video will be shown the day after, according to the BBC.
Money raised by the new version of the song will help fund relief efforts to fight the spread of the Ebola virus in West Africa.
When Irish rocker, Bob Geldof, put together the first project, it raised money for famine relief in Ethiopia.
Fans will be able to follow the recording session on an official app, which will stream live footage from Sarm studios in London.
The update will contain updated lyrics, because, according to Geldof, Africa’s “booming” nations no longer face a famine threat.
References to the “burning sun” and land where “no rain nor rivers flow” have been removed.
“That part of Africa is lush,” Geldof told a press conference on Monday. “They have hydro-electric plants. It is massively fertile, the best rice-growing soil in the world.”
Check out the new trailer for the single below. We’ll be watching the live stream of X Factor, beginning at 3 pm ET 8pm GMT.
