America’s Got Talent Returns May 26 with New Twists, Mat Franco Special

America’s Got Talent returns to NBC on May 26 with returning judges, Howie Mandel, Mel B., Heidi Klum and Howard Stern and host Nick Cannon.

The new 10 year anniversary season features a new and enhanced “Golden Buzzer” and more new twists. At boot camp, which begins on July 14, each week, one judge will receive a “special advantage” over the others in determining which acts are sent to the Top 36 to perform live for America’s vote.  There will also be a two hour special, featuring the best and most heartwarming acts of the series. Air date to be determined.

Last season’s winner, magician Mat Franco, will return with two primetime specials titled Mat Franco’s Got Magic. Details from NBC press below:

NEW YORK — April 2, 2015 — “America’s Got Talent,” NBC’s hit reality-competition series, announced today new features and surprises to celebrate its 10th anniversary season, premiering Tuesday, May 26 (8-10p.m. ET). New features will include an enhanced Golden Buzzer, bigger and more extreme acts, new elements in the boot camp round of auditions and a two-hour series retrospective.

To accommodate acts that are simply too big for the theater, “AGT” will bring the show outdoors to showcase some of the biggest and most dangerous acts to ever audition. Similar to the acts in theater, the extreme contestants, filmed at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., will be subject to the judges’ dreaded “X” buzzers.

This season’s Golden Buzzer will send an act from the audition stage directly to the live performance shows at Radio City Music Hall. Each judge can hit the Golden Buzzer only once for an act they think has what it takes to win America’s vote. Live performance shows will premiere Tuesday, Aug. 11 (8-10 p.m.).

A new version of boot camp will shake things up this season, beginning Tuesday, July 14 (8-10 p.m. ET). Each week, one judge will receive a special advantage over the others in determining which acts become part of the Top 36 to perform live for America’s vote.

To celebrate a decade of talent, “AGT” will also debut a two-hour special featuring the best acts of the series, the most heartwarming stories, the oddest personalities and the biggest show-stopping moments from the last 10 years.

Tickets are available now for the final audition tapings, April 6-8 and April 10-11 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. www.nbc.com/tickets

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — April 2, 2015 — Magician Mat Franco, who last year rose above tens of thousands of acts to become the season 9 winner of NBC’s hit reality-competition series “America’s Got Talent,” is returning to the network for two primetime specials.

Titled “Mat Franco’s Got Magic” the specials will capture Mat traveling from his home in Rhode Island to Las Vegas, stopping off at incredible locations, wowing celebrities, performing street magic and visiting the family, friends and everyday Americans who helped make his dream come true. When he reaches his final destination, Mat will learn what it takes to put on a high-profile show and fulfill his dreams of becoming a headlining act in Las Vegas at the LINQ Hotel & Casino.
