Tonight American Idol alum, Sal Valentinetti performed One Direction’s “Story of My Life” like a Sinatra swing standard, and danger act, Ryan and Amber Lynn had a scary mishap, live on stage. Steven Brundage, the Rubik’s cube magician made a stunning comeback as a wild card.

Like last week…only SEVEN acts will go on to the next round! “Let’s make America’s Got Talent great again,” says Howie. SHUT UP DUDE.

Flip – Dance Troupe – An all girl dance group from China. They were eliminated during the judge cuts and return as a wild card. The girls went all out with costumes and staging. Pyro! The music morphs into “Sax” by Fleur East. They are more or less precise, but these dance moves are ordinary. The staging and costuming carry the performance. Howie was waiting for a lead dancer to emerge and perform a spectacular move. He’s correct. Mel B. thought the choreography was on point, but some dancers were better than others. Heidi loved all the influences in the choreo. “I loved it.” Simon snarks that “It’s like having dinner with Mel B. It starts off well and goes nowhere.” Uh oh. Mel attempts to throw a cup of water on him. The girls didn’t get much of a critique. Oh well. At least they got one last performance on the AGT stage.

Moya Angela – Singer – Oh. She’s talking about her past as a Broadway singer. She’s been living in Las Vegas lately, working with children. But her dream is to be on her own stage, headlining her own show. She sings “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” by Whitney Houston. Eh. Good voice, but she’s old fashioned and a tad theatrical. “I’ve heard that done so much better,” says Mel. Ouch! “I think you’re a little bit off tonight.” The audience boos. Heidi thought it was heartfelt and that she told a story. Simon sympathises with her. He thought the song was “stunning” but “it’s a little bit too polite.” He thinks she should let go. Hm. Less theatrics, more honest emotion. I get that. Howie wonders why Moya isn’t a star. Moya promises Mel: “I got more, I’m going to give more.”

Viktor Kee – Juggler – His mom had to quit her career as a dancer when his dad abandoned the family. They were living in the Ukraine at the time. If that wasn’t enough heartache–Victor’s brother died right after his first audition. “This performance will be for our family,” he says. Viktor bursts out of an egg like an extra-terrestrial fetus. He begins with a single red ball, rolling it over his body. Then, balls fall from the rafters and he begins a fast juggle. OOPS HE DROPS A BALL. But recovers. He balances balls on his spine while he spins around. Not as spectacular as his first two performances, but still elegant and expert. Heidi says “It’s really amazing what you do with your balls.” Har dee har har. Simon hates jugglers…but Viktor changed his mind. “You’re the best juggler in the world.” Simon thought he pulled out all the stops tonight. Hm. He’s Howie’s fav variety act in the competition. Howie makes more jokes about “balls.” Stop that. Mel loves that he makes something so simple look “magical and hot.”

Kadie Lynn – Singer – She’s the 12 year old roots singer from Texas. Her supportive parents adopted her in their 50s. Her video package posits Kadie as a small town hick. There she is riding a bale of hay in a town parade! She sings “My Church” by Maren Morris. Great song choice. I like Kadie–she could use a few more years of experience, but her presentation is remarkably mature and effortless. Ohhh. Simon just called her a superstar. In a fake country accent. He’s sure she will make the semi-finals, but wants her to strip down her next performance. “Made in the USA,” he says. “What’s Blake doing on our show!” jokes Howie about Simon’s fake accent. Ha ha. Howie doesn’t love country music, but he recognizes her talent. Mel B. loves her voice. “The kids are ruling this season!” exclaims Heidi.

Ryan and Amber Lynn – Gross Out Act – The duo are dressed like June and Ward on the set of a 50’s TV show. Because irony! The first trick is sword swallowing “with a twist.” Sorry. I can’t really watch this. “Sunshine Lollipops” by Leslie Gore plays as he totally grosses out the audience. Next trick involves goggles and a mouth guard. He’s swallowing a lamp stand. Not watching. OMG AMBER LYNN SHOOTS AN ARROW AT A TARGET IN RYAN’S MOUTH AND SHE MISSES. Hit him right in chest. Howie is freaking out, insisting he needs to go straight to the hospital. Ryan insists he’s fine. But he was obviously in pain when she missed. Mel B. still gives them credit for putting their lives in danger. Heidi is more freaked out than ever. Simon wants to STOP right now so Ryan can see an EMT. No doubt he’s thinking “Dear God LAWSUITS.” Ryan swears he wasn’t punctured. I think he choked on the lamp post when she missed. That mishap illustrated why these gross out acts are terrible.

EMT checked out Ryan. HE’S bruised but OK!

Calysta Bevier – She’s the young teen who battled ovarian cancer. She was also Simon’s Golden Buzzer. She sings another inspiring song, “Brave” by Sara Bareilles. Calysta is a sweet girl and obviously has been through a lot. BUT she’s a mediocre singer. She is very heartfelt. But I think, like the choir last year, she’ll sail through on her backstory. Standing ovation from the crowd AND the judges. “I just wanted this to happen for you,” says Simon. “You’re more than a great artist, you are truly an inspiration.” She asks if she made him proud and of course she did. He urges viewers to vote for her. Howie: Message blah blah blah. Inspiration blah blah. Vote blah blah blah. Howie and Mel B call the performance “Flawless.” Heidi calls her performance “simple,” “angelic,” and “brave.”

Sofie Dossi – Contortionist – She was Reba’s Golden Buzzer. Only 15, she can contort her body while shooting arrows into targets. I bet SHE doesn’t miss. Her dad builds the contraptions for her act. She descends from the rafters on a red silk. After a little balance work, she does her crazy pretzel act. That’s before she picks up a bow and arrow, blindfolds herself, and shoots a big red heart using her feet. A very well put together production! This gal is going to make the finals. Heidi loves that her act keeps getting bigger and better. Simon thinks Ryan will fire Amber Lynn and hire her! He compliments her performance skills. Howie was so scared! She had turned on her pedestal with the bow and arrow. If she had slipped, one of the judges might have bit it. Mel admires her body strength and power. I agree with Heidi, the act doesn’t change much, but the presentation is so good, Sophie is always mesmerizing.

The Clairvoyants – Mentalists – This couple puts on an incredible show. How do they do it? Will they be able to top themselves? First the judges pick jelly beans out of a bowl. Amalie guesses the candy they eat. Mel B scoops a bunch of candy in a glass. He asks her to put in more. She says she’s good. Ha ha. Trying to trip them up. Amalie STILL guesses she scooped 22 jelly beans! After, they insist they were CONTROLLING THE JUDGES MINDS. They unveil a chalkboard that has EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED during the act written out! Wow. They certainly topped themselves. Simon calls them aliens from another planet. “This is the creepiest thing! I absolutely love it! You two are incredible,” he says. Howie wonders if they’re in America’s head making them vote. Mel B says they terrify her, but in a good way.

The America’s Got Talent Vegas show will take place at Planet Hollywood on October 27, 28 and 29.

Sal Valentinetti – Singer – He actually used the word “goombah” to describe his Italian friends. Really? REALLY? Italian American stereotypes! I LOVE IT. /sarcasm. He lost 50 pounds since his first audition. “I haven’t eaten a cannoli, bowl of pasta or pizza in weeks.” Yikes. Good God. He’s singing a “swing” version of One Direction’s “Story of My Life.” WHYYYYYYYY. It’s pointless. He should stick to the classics. “Thank you! I loves you all!” he shouts afterward. “You did it!” says Heidi. Simon thinks the show feels like a final. “You’re like a singing pizza. You’re authentic.” No Simon, I feel like I just ate at the Olive Garden. When Howie says he should stick to the standards, Simon buzzes him. Hey! Simon’s making some coin. He loves it.

Throwings – Acrobats – Basically, a guy throws his girlfriend and catches her as she tumbles. She has already broken her spine with another partner. If he drops her, she could be seriously injured. They are performing the trick that broke her spine…and they are adding strobe lights so nobody can see. Uhm. She’s being swung around like a rag doll. After a couple of double somersaults, the act comes to an end with no mishaps. The girl is crying. Good lord. Mel B can’t believe she went back to the stunt that almost killed her. “I loved it!” she exclaims. Heidi calls it “exciting…such amazing athletes.” Uh oh. Heidi split her dress open when she stood. “I just saw your bum, jokes Simon. He didn’t think the act was enough to get them into the semi-finals, because they are basically performing the same act over and over again. Howie disagrees. He begs viewers to vote.

Steven Brundage – Rubik’s Cube magician – Fans flipped out on social media and started a petition when Steven was eliminated at the judge cuts. Now he’s back as a wild card. It was crazy to eliminate him in the first place! He was very good both times he performed. This week, it’s more astonishingly fast magic tricks with the cube. His slight of hand is even MORE amazing this time. Steven truly deserved to be called back. Heidi calls the act AMAZING. Is it magic or practice, she asks. Probably both. Simon says the girls didn’t want him to come back. Oh boy. Shut up Simon. Howie was completely blown away this time. He admits he made a mistake when he dissed his performance skills last time. Mel B calls him “astonishing” and “cute.”

The incredible Illuminate will perform with Fitz and the Tantrums on tomorrow night’s results show.

Sos & Victoria – Quick Change Artists – They design ALL the costumes themselves. The first outfit was obviously a tear away. I am really surprised this act is last. Oh. The last bit with confetti was obvious. I don’t know. The act is a little old at this point. Simon calls them clever but annoying. “I should have liked it, but for some reason I didn’t.” Heidi really like it, even though she saw one of the changes. Mel B. saw the mistake too. She wondered why Victoria wasn’t smiling, but overall she liked it. Howie thinks it’s a form of magic, but he didn’t think it was their best. He’s right. I don’t think they deserve to advance based on that performance.
