America’s Got Talent switches up the Golden Buzzer for season 19
America’s Got Talent is currently taping audition episodes at the Pasadena Civic Center in California. One big twist for the season–the Golden Buzzers will be even bigger than before.
Each judge will receive TWO Golden Buzzers each while host Terry Crews will keep his one for a total of nine buzzers available to dole out to contestants. A Golden Buzzer has the power to send acts straight to the live shows.
“In the first two days we’ve used more Golden Buzzers than we’ve ever used – that’s got to be a good sign!” Executive producer and judge Simon Cowell told People magazine after the first week of filming. Nine seems like a lot of buzzers, but it’s actually only TWO more than last season’s 7 buzzers. In 2023, each judges and Terry had one buzzer to hand out. Plus, the group as a whole and the “audience” each had a buzzer, for a total of 7 Golden Buzzers.
America’s Got Talent 2024 will return to NBC on Tuesday, May 28. The live shows will then kick off on Aug. 13 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, with results shows scheduled for Wednesday nights.
Season 18 saw Adrian Stoica and his dog Hurricane take home the AGT crown and the $1 million prize at the end of the two-night finale.
After skipping AGT: Fantasy League, Sofia Vergara returns to the AGT judges panel
The 19th season of America’s Got Talent returns with a new set of aspiring performers looking to compete for the ultimate $1 million prize. Executive producer Simon Cowell returns to the star-studded judging panel with global fashion icon Heidi Klum, fan-favorite comedian Howie Mandel and acclaimed actress and international superstar Sofia Vergara. The dynamic Terry Crews returns as host. This season promises to deliver some of the wildest acts to ever grace the “AGT” stage.
