American Idol winner Maddie Poppe performed her coronation single “Going Going Gone” on the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards which aired across Disney platforms Saturday night (June 24)
Prior to her performance, a clip aired that featured an introduction by Idol host Ryan Seacrest, and best wishes from Idol judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. The folksie singer, who had admitted that the song was maybe too pop and too hard to sing, slowed up the song’s tempo and stripped down the instrumentation. She’s making the song her own, as the kids say.
Later in the broadcast, Maddie joined The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli to present the Icon Award to American Idol OG winner and The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson.
