Congratulations to Jordin Sparks. The American Idol season 6 winner was secretly married in July to her 25 year old boyfriend Dana Isaiah in July and they are expecting their first child together next spring.
“We’re both really excited,” Jordin told People about finally sharing the news. “He’s been like, ‘I want to shout it from the mountain tops!’ We’re really proud to be married to each other and to be celebrating this.”
According to people, here’s how the couple met:
Sparks had met her new husband’s family when she traveled to Houston during Super Bowl weekend this past February with her charity campaign I’m M.A.D., Are You?
When Isaiah — who is pursuing a modeling career — told his mom weeks later he was eyeing a move out West, Sparks’ mom and Isaiah’s mom put their children on a group text chat. “My mom was trying to get [Jordin] to talk me out of moving to L.A. because she’s experienced the industry out here,” he says. “It wasn’t like, ‘We want you guys to date.’”
But the pair bonded quickly over their tight-knit families and shared Christian faith. After talking nearly every day for a month, Isaiah flew out to Los Angeles for an agency meeting and met his future wife for the first time over Easter weekend.
Jordin told People it was meant to be: “A couple days after we had actually met, I was like in my head ‘That’s going to be my husband! That’s my husband right there,’” Jordin said. She discussed early on with Isaiah about not moving in together until they were married. (Jason Derulo moved into Jordin’s house when they were a couple.) “When I’m with him, I feel comfort and safety and calm and peace, and those aren’t things that I normally felt. So it was a little wake-up call for me.”
Congrats to Jordin and Isaiah. The story behind why they’d keep their marriage a secret is probably an interesting one. Maybe someday we’ll hear it.

While vacationing in Hawaii with their best friends in mid-July, the American Idol winner, 27, and Isaiah, 25, decided to elope days into their trip.
“We hadn’t had a set plan or anything. We were like, ‘If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, that’s okay too,” Sparks tells PEOPLE exclusively about their July 16 wedding day.
As the couple were walking “up and down the beach,” Sparks saw a paparazzo taking photos of them, and “I looked at Dana and I go, ‘Smile, you’re on camera.’”
“We all get in the water and we’re having a good time and I just was like ‘Morgan,’” she says about her best friend. “She had gotten ordained before the trip. I was like, ‘Morgan, why don’t you do it right now?’ And she was like ‘Okay!’”
Jordin and Dana met in February, married in July. That’s a quick courtship!
Dana is very handsome, though. That’s going to be one good looking baby.
