So this Meat Loaf concert featuring American Idol season 13 winner Caleb Johnson is a thing that is actually going to happen. Caleb has posted concert dates on his Facebook. There are only five concerts scheduled so far. Meat Loaf has been in poor health the past few years. It’s the reason he is embarking on a “storyteller” type tour–Meat Loaf will tell stories recapping his long career while Caleb sings his hits. But according to the original report, if the scheduled dates go well, Meat Loaf hopes to move on to a Las Vegas residency.
A source revealed to The Sun that Meat Loaf would be embarking on a world tour despite health and vocal issues. According to a recent Rolling Stone interview, the singer needs a walker to even take a few steps. His wife has to put him to bed–he’s a shut in at this point.
A source told The Sun: “He’s been relying on pre-recorded vocal tracks for a while but doesn’t want to face accusations of miming on a huge tour, so is passing the baton on to Caleb, who he’s a big fan of. Instead his involvement will be telling stories of how he met Jim Steinman, who he’s worked with since the Seventies, and other anecdotes. But the singing will be left to Caleb.”
Check out this crazy promotional poster that Caleb posted on twitter! Best. Photoshop. Ever. The tour kicks off in The Colony, Texas on September 29. Concerts are also scheduled in Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, New York and Illinois.
