Allegra Miles said goodbye to American Idol this week, eliminated at the end of Sunday’s (April 24) Top 14 performance episode. The singer has experience with singing shows. She first competed on The Voice season 18 in 2020 at only 16 years old, before giving American Idol season 20 a shot in 2022.

The singer-songwriter survived Hollywood Week and the Showstopper Round where she sang an original song, “Reality.” At the Top 24, she performed Harry Styles’ “Adore You” and advanced to the Top 20. But after performing Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’,” it took another original, her audition song “Tainted” to earn one of four judges wildcards to the Top 14.

But alas, after her lovely performance of Billie Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes,” Allegra left the competition. The next morning, she penned a heartfelt note on Instagram:

“Thank you guys so much from the bottom of my heart for voting, sharing, and believing in me through everything,” Allegra wrote. “The love you have shown me is indescribable and I am so beyond grateful. getting to sing my original music on national tv, and you guys telling me how you connected and it made you feel less alone — that is why i make music.”

“…there are multiple factors of reality tv that are unfortunate”

Allegra hints that some aspects of TV singing competition are difficult. “While there are multiple factors of reality tv that are unfortunate,” She wrote. “I am beyond grateful for the incredible human beings i’ve gotten to meet thru this process – we are family now and will always be.”

The singer continued, “I am so excited to share so much music i’ve been making and SO many incredible things on the horizon so soon – thank you for being along for the ride always. Everything starts right now, I love you forever.”

Allegra Auditioned for The Voice at 16

At only 16 years old, Allegra auditioned for The Voice and landed on Team Nick Jonas. She survived the Battle and Knockout rounds. But similar to her American Idol experience, Nick saved the singer at the Playoff rounds after she performed a rendition of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind.”

In the semi-finals, Allegra landed in the Bottom 5 and sang for her life with a performance of  Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood,” but didn’t earn the Instant Save. Making competing so much harder: The pandemic meant she had to tape her Playoff and Semi-final performances remotely from home!

American Idol gave Allegra the opportunity show the world her songwriting skills. As an artist, she has a ton of potential. Hopefully she won’t keep her fans waiting too long for new music.
