American Idol Top 8 Redux – Predictions, Poll Results, iTunes Rankings

MB1_1910

iTunes Rankings – Top 400 – As of 1:45

Only 3 studio recordings charted in the iTunes Top 400 as opposed to 5 last week. The highest ranking song barely cracked the Top 100

97. Alex Preston – Every Breath You Take
156. Caleb Johnson – Faithfully
188. Sam Woolf – Time After Time

Favorite Top 8 Redux Solo Performance

Caleb JohnsonAlex Preston and Sam Woolf sit at the top of the favorite performance poll.  There aren’t any big surprises for me here, except that Dexter isn’t ranked higher and Malaya lower.  Dexter had a solid performance last night, certainly better than Malaya.

  • Caleb Johnson – Faithfully 32.02%
  • Alex Preston – Every Breath You Take by The Police 16.77%
  • Sam Woolf – Time after Time 15.31%
  • Jessica Meuse – Call Me 13.73%
  • Jena Irene – I Love Rock n Roll 13.67%
  • Malaya Watson – Through the Fire 4.07%
  • CJ Harris – Free Fallin 2.25%
  • Dexter Roberts – Keep Your Hands to Yourself 2%

Favorite Top 8 Redux Duet

Jena and Caleb ran away with the duet poll, with Alex and Sam not far behind them. No shockers here either!

  • Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson – It’s Only Love  48.71%
  • Alex Preston and Sam Woolf – The Girl is Mine  35.45%
  • Dexter Roberts and Jessica Meuse – Islands in the Stream  11.86%
  • Malaya Watson and CJ Harris – I Knew You Were Waiting for Me  3.98%

Who SHOULD be Going Home

Oh. Hello CJ. Nice to see you again!  I’d send CJ home this week too. But I’m not convinced that’s going to happen.  Malaya stumbled last night with her Chaka Khan performance. That might be all it takes to send her home. We could have a shock bottom 3 appearance, or even a shock boot this week.

  • CJ Harris 48.41%
  • Malaya Watson 24.58%
  • Dexter Roberts 10.36%
  • Sam Woolf 7.99%
  • Jessica Meuse 3.66%
  • Jena Irene 2.51%
  • Alex Preston 1.35%
  • Caleb Johnson 1%

Who WILL Go Home

The “WILL” go home poll ranks the contestants about the same, except some of you feel Sam  is in trouble. I don’t think so. He had a decent performance last night, plus he’s fresh off a save. He’ll be fine this week.

  • CJ Harris 41.75%
  • Malaya Watson 39.62%
  • Sam Woolf 6.19%
  • Dexter Roberts 5.69%
  • Jessica Meuse 2.77%
  • Jena Irene 2.49%
  • Caleb Johnson 0.92% (
  • Alex Preston 0.57%

MY PREDICTION: Bottom 3: CJ Harris, Malaya Watson, Jena Irene.  I know. The Jena pick is bold, but I’m going for it. She performed first. Plus, her rendition of “I Love Rock N Roll was…odd.  Sam and Dexter had solid performances this week. I think they both stay out of the bottom. Who is Going Home:  Say goodbye to another girl: Malaya Watson.  She was terrible this week. Also, the judges blew off CJ’s pitch problems, while praising him on how much “heart” he has.
