American Idol alum Haven Madison releases sophomore single “Monster” ahead of debut EP

Haven Madison, American Idol Season 21 finalist and 19 Recordings/BMG pop vocalist, performer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, drops her brand-new track, “Monster,” along with an official music video.

The song serves as the second track to release in anticipation of Haven’s forthcoming studio EP Turn off All the Lights that will drop worldwide on April 26.

With “Monster,” Haven dives into the depths of her emotion. The dark, edgy anthem takes a look at the complexities of relationships, breakups, and empowerment. Haven draws from personal inspiration told through her powerful storytelling and delivers a sonically rich song that showcases her evolving range as an artist and songwriter.

“‘Monster’ was the song that opened the floodgates for me,” said Haven in a press statement. “I was, as no surprise, very ticked off by a boy and just went wide open with this pop banger. I love the dark elements it has, and the sentiment is one I haven’t heard in a song yet, so I’m pumped for the world to get their hands on it.”

“If that makes me a Monster, that’s fine”

On social media, Haven shared more personal insight into “Monster. She shared, “Never felt like I fit in while I was in high school, constantly worried about my clothes, my posture, my hair, my face, what if people think I’ve changed, what if people think I’m a monster?” Haven wrote. “What I know now – I was destined for more. I was insecure walking the halls at school, because I’m confident and unwavering walking across a stage.” Haven added, “This is what I was born to do, I no longer care if I fit into a box that was formed out of fear of those brave enough to walk into the uncharted. So if that makes me a Monster, that’s fine.”

“Monster” is co-written with GRAMMY-nominated songwriter/producer and Variety Hitmaker Dave Pittenger, who also serves as producer on Turn Off All the Lights. The sophomore track is a compelling preview of what’s to come from Haven’s highly anticipated EP and follows the success of her debut song “Sky Up.”

Haven Madison, a teen standout on American Idol

Earning praise from judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, as well as guest judge Ed Sheeran, Haven’s viral duet performance of “Still Need You” with Katy on the finale, garnered the admiration of millions of viewers and fans.

Post-show, Haven immediately returned to Nashville and got to work in the studio. The singer began penning new songs, journaling her way into crafting an honest, coming of age collection of tracks that comprise her upcoming EP, Turn Off All The Lights.

Haven is easy to keep up with. She posts clips of her new songs on social media, including on Tik Tok and Instagram.

Hailed as “the next big pop star” by Perry, Haven is no stranger to the music business. Having grown up in a music family touring the world, she discovered her passion for performing and songwriting at an early age.
