Scotty confesses that he watched the show growing up and never imagined he’d be on it. Lauren Alaina, runner up for season 10 and season 2 champ Ruben Studdard wonder about the “southern secret.” That so many successful Idols have come from the southern United States. “Just sayin!” says Ruben, who hailed from Birmingham Alabama. He goes on to namecheck a slew of southern alums, including Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino, Clay Aiken, Scotty McCreery, Carrie Underwood. Of course, Lauren is from Georgia. They wonder if coming from Missouri (David Cook) counts. They decide it does.
