American Idol Ratings: Wednesday is Up and Down

via Mediaweek:

-Ratings Breakdown:
Led by American Idol, Fox ruled the ratings roost on Wednesday, followed by CBS in the No. 2 spot. ABC’s below-average performance was a result of the collapse of Happy Town in week two.

Fox opened this first Wednesday in May with a repeat of Lie To Me (Viewers: #4, 4.44 million; A18-49: #5, 1.3 rating/4 share at 8 p.m.), followed by American Idol at 19.05 million viewers and a 6.3/17 in the demo at 9 p.m. As good as Idol still is, one year earlier it averaged 23.57 million viewers and an 8.3/20 in the demo on May 6, 2009, according to the final nationals.

Wednesday’s Idol improved over Tuesday’s 2 hour average, but was down 3/10ths from last week. (via TVbyTheNumbers).  Also, it was the worst Wednesday since 2002.
