The best times blogging American Idol for me have been show nights when we all come together as a community to stan over the show and contestants we love. Fellow pundits and bloggers were a big part of that experience for me.
Michele Amabile (Idol Worship) and the Hollywood Reporter staff put together an article where those of us who covered Idol over the years, including me and others like Brian Mansfield (Idol Chatter), Richard Rushfield (Hitfix.com, American Idol: The Untold Story) Rodney Ho (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) Lyndsey Parker (Yahoo Music Editor/Reality Rocks) Rickey (Rickey.org) and Eric Rueb (DudesReviewIdol.com) shared our thoughts on the show that changed our lives. Click here to check it out. Big ups to Michele for putting together all of our quotes.
It’s an honor to be part of that article, as it is an honor to be part of the Idol community. While it’s been exciting to meet the alums, and get to know talented reporters from major news outlets, it has also been really satisfying for me to be a part of the American Idol fan community. I’ve always seen hosting the live blogs for the shows and other big events like throwing the biggest funnest party I possibly could. I have been really lucky to have the smartest, awesomest, cleverest, funniest community of any entertainment blog on the internet. It’s true.
Also, my Idol coverage wouldn’t be what it is without the help of Kirsten, WindmillsMusic (Deb), Adam S, Vinny, Sir Mac, and anyone who offered a tip or posted a juicy piece of news in comments. I am really grateful to all of you!
I also hope you stick around for our coverage of The Voice, Dancing with the Stars, America’s Got Talent, So You Think You Can Dance, Survivor, Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Bachelor(ette), and whatever else we have coming down the pike.
It’s going to be really emotional on Thursday when Idol leaves the airways. I’m getting my crying emoticons ready.
