American Idol Microphone To Make Its Way Across America!

FOX announces Idol Across America, a promotion that will feature the American Idol microphone–or “mic” as we shall refer to it henceforth–making it’s way from New York City to Los Angeles, beginning March 1.  The “mic” will travel via a relay of volunteers, local officials, Idol alums and more.  “Mic” will arrive in LA in time for the Top 10 show on March 13.  Because there is NO SINGING WITHOUT MIC. Along the way, “mic” will make stops in 13 cities in order for ya’all to admire it!  Check out the schedule below.

This is a great idea. It would have been even better if “Idol Gives Back” had been involved somehow to raise funds for charity.  What do you think? Should I join a relay team? Will you?  At the very least, I’ll be stopping by the exhibit in Boston on March 2 to pay homage to “mic” while snapping a few photos.

Local “Idols” – fans, inspirational heroes, local officials and former IDOLs – will walk, run, bike, row, drive, skateboard, line-dance, roller-skate, skip, scooter and fly the “mic,” among other means of travel, from state to state with their friends and family cheering them along the way. One lucky relay team member will win tickets to the IDOL finale.

From New York, the epic journey continues on to Boston, MA (March 2); Philadelphia, PA (March 3); Washington, D.C. The nationwide tour, produced by Civic Entertainment Group, will allow fans to celebrate the cultural phenomenon that is AMERICAN IDOL.

Beginning, Tuesday, Feb. 19, fans interested in joining the IDOL Relay Team should visit americanidol.com. Also on the IDOL site, fans can follow the “mic” and the Relay Team in real time via an interactive map as they make their way across the country.
