American Idol season 9 winner Lee DeWyze is ready to release his next album, Paranoia on February 16. On Friday (Feb 9) he dropped by the Hallmark Home & Family show to play a few songs from the album.
Lee talked to hosts Mark Steines and Debbie Matenopoulos about what it’s been like to become a “sync artist.” His song “Blackbird” exploded after it was featured on the Walking Dead. Since then, he’s had several songs featured in TV projects, including “The Breakdown” which was recently featured in Showtime’s Shameless.
“My music just lends itself to visual media,” said Lee. “It’s always fun for me to see my music be put into those things, because I get to see the songs in a different way.”
Lee explained that the song “Sink or Swim” is about keeping songwriting and his love for music in the forefront. “The way my career started it was a matter of being tossed into it and figuring it out,” Lee explained. “This is one of those songs that is definitely more personal to me on this record.”
