American Idol season 15 runner-up La’Porsha Renae has released her gritty new single.
“Good Woman” was produced by Harmony “H-Money” Samuels (Mary J. Blige, Ariana Grande, Fantasia) and Edgar “JV” Etienne (Fifth Harmony).
The ballad finds the singer making a passionate case for her worth as a lover and a partner.
“A lot of fans have been requesting that in-your-face song, a sense of feeling empowered,” La’Porsha told Billboard. “And ‘Good Woman’ is that: a relatable song celebrating the good woman. I’m also really proud of the third verse, which I wrote.”
La’Porsha’s American Idol coronation song “Battles” was recorded and used as the theme song for the U.S. Women’s Olympic Gymnastics team during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. The song will also appear on the singer’s upcoming album, which she is currently recording for Motown/Universal.
