Fantasia Leads You Through ‘Bittersweet’ Video, Frame By Frame
Fantasia’s new single may be called “Bittersweet, ” but making the music video was anything but bitter. In fact, the R&B songstress has never felt more empowered and in charge, thanks to a newfound post-“Color Purple” confidence that has her calling her own shots.
“It’s all my concept, ” Fantasia told MTV News. “I was scared when I called the record label, because, of course, they had their own concepts. And I was like, ‘No, can I do it this way?’ And [director Lenny Bass] was totally open to all that stuff.”

Bleu, Broderick and Maroulis to Play Some Ball at Yankee Stadium; Clarke, Show Casts to Perform
Broadway’s Corbin Bleu, Matthew Broderick and Constantine Maroulis are set to play a new arena July 19, when they take part in Yankee Stadium’s “Bombers Boomer Broadway Softball Classic.”
“Proceeds from the event will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation Fighting Cystic Fibrosis and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, ” according to press notes. “In addition, the New York Yankees will donate 2, 500 tickets to Bronx-area camps and youth league teams.”
Maroulis (Rock of Ages) will perform the national anthem before joining Bleu (In the Heights), Broderick (The Producers, The Odd Couple) and other Broadway stars on the field to play ball starting around 11:40 AM.

Taylor Hicks cuts TV ad to promote Alabama’s beaches, wildlife refuge
MONTGOMERY, AL — Taylor Hicks has cut a tourism ad for Alabama’s beaches that will be aired once the oil from the BP spill has been cleaned up.
Lee Sentell, director of the Alabama Tourism Department, said Friday the television ad by the 2006 American Idol winner was shot at the same time the agency did an ad featuring Jimmy Buffett’s sister, Lucy, the owner of a Gulf Shores restaurant.
Sentell said the Hicks’ ad won’t be shown, however, until “the recovery period” when oil is no longer affecting Alabama beaches.

Here’s a peek at what Taylor Hicks will look like in his TV spots for the Alabama Tourism Department. The Hoover native, 33, is part of an ad campaign that encourages people to visit the Gulf Coast this summer, despite the aftermath of the oil spill.
TV commercials featuring Hicks are in the works, and should be completed this month, according to a release from the tourism department. A similar spot, featuring chef and Gulf Coast advocate Lucy Buffett, sister of singer Jimmy Buffett, was released today.
James, Urban gear up for ‘Idol’ tour
You can guess by the birds chirping in the background that Casey James is calling from somewhere outdoors. But it becomes a little more clear when the second runner-up of this year’s American Idol interrupts the interview for a minute. There’s a brief, muffled exchange and then James comes back to the phone, laughing sheepishly.
“Someone just pulled off on the side of the road, ” James says through his laughter, “and said ‘Are you Casey?’ It’s so crazy, man.”
