The all new ‘American Idol’ will be fast-tracked on Foxtel – Since the franchise began in 2001 with the British show Pop Idol, 46 different versions of the show have been created in different countries, and while Australian Idol left our screens many years ago the US version has remained popular. Foxtel will be broadcasting American Idol in Australia on their Fox8 channel. Carrie Underwood gives $10,000 for Checotah’s assistant police chief who was injured in rollover wreck – Country music star Carrie Underwood donated $10,000 to her hometown’s assistant police chief after he was injured last week in a rollover wreck in Haskell County. Under her married name, Carrie Fisher, Underwood donated the money via the GoFundMe campaign set up for Checotah Assistant Police Chief Justin Durrett, who sustained multiple neck fractures during the wreck. Durrett, 35, was injured last Sunday after the 2006 Ford pickup truck he was driving ran off the road on Oklahoma 71 near West Liberty Road in Haskell County, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. – Tulsa World

Fantasia Cancels Upcoming Shows Due to Knee Injury – On Thursday (Feb. 16) Fantasia’s team announced that she would be canceling two of her upcoming shows: Feb. 17th in Atlantic City, and Feb. 24 in Reading. According to her Twitter, Fantasia had a recent knee injury that she is still recovering from. In addition to the injury, the singer’s nephew recently passed away, according to the statement. 71-year-old Cypress man auditioning for ‘The Voice’ – Darrell Petty, of Cypress, said he’s been singing most of his life. He now wants to share his voice with the rest of the world — hoping to win an audition Saturday afternoon to sing on NBC’s hit show “The Voice.” “I’ve been working on it for a couple of years just trying to get ready to do it,” Petty, 71, said. “The day has finally come.” Petty is a bus aide for Cypress ISD.
