Singer-songwriter Wyatt Pike shocked American Idol fans when he abruptly dropped out of the season 19 competition before the Top 12 reveal back in April 2021. The Park City, Utah native never explained why he quit the show. But nevertheless, Wyatt has been busy ever since.

He regularly collaborates with his fellow alums like Julia Gargano, Louis Knight, Cassandra Coleman, Casey Bishop and more. And he uploads snips of self-penned songs, “bits of tunes,” to Instagram and Tik Tok for his fans’ listening pleasure.

Wyatt announces new single, “Deep Blue”

Now, the singer is releasing a new upbeat single, “Deep Blue.” It’s his first release since the 2021 song “Diana.” The new tune is set to drop on February 25. And it can drop onto your favorite streaming service. Just presave it HERE.

Additionally, Wyatt is headed to the Mercury Lounge in New York City on February 9 to play a gig alongside his fellow American Idol 2021 alums, Caroline Sky and Top 12 contestant, Beane.

In November, he played guitar for Casey Bishop at a gig opening for John Fogerty and Foreigner in her hometown, Estero, Florida. “Casey crushed it, as always, and blew people away with her raw talent,” Wyatt said on Instagram.  “Just wait until you hear her new music… !!! Performing on a stage before @foreignerlive and @johnfogerty was rather surreal as well… 10-year-old Wyatt’s jaw would be on the floor. (current Wyatt’s was too.)”

Wyatt is proud of the songs he’s recorded, but asks fans for “more time”

And then, right after the new year, Wyatt asked his fans to have a little patience. New music is coming, but not quite yet. “I’ve been saying “new music soon I promise!!” for 285 days now… and each time I said it I meant it,” Wyatt wrote on Instagram. “However, the process to make the songs I want to share with you has taken many more turns than it has in the past: trying new sounds, working with new people, scrapping old ones and writing new ones. I’m really proud of the songs that are on the home stretch right now… I think they’re my best yet. I just need a LITTTTLLLEEE more time.”

And as it turns out, that time is NOW.

“I had to leave the @AmercianIdol competition for personal reasons,” Wyatt said after leaving the show, “but am so thankful I get to play music for the rest of my life.”
