Ahead of embarking on an acoustic tour, American Idol season 7 winner David Cook is gearing up to release a new single, “Death of Me,” set to be released on October 26.  David wrote the tune within 72 hrs of getting back from New York City last month, after concluding a second stint playing Charlie Price in the Broadway musical Kinky Boots. Prior to his run in the show, David had independently released an EP, Chromance.

“It’s the first new song I’ve written since my run on Broadway in Kinky Boots and I’m really excited about it,” David told the CTPost. It’s just another step forward in the evolution of my sound.” He added, “As you know, I made a conscious effort to try some different things with Chromance. I think it’s just another extension of that. So to try to rework that song now kind of on the fly for this acoustic run is going to be fun.”

The acoustic tour kicks off in David’s hometown, St. Louis, Missouri on October 25, the eve of the release of “Death of Me.” Check out the full schedule HERE
