Season 6 Digital Song Compilations available at iTunes

Season 6 Idol studio performances are now available at iTunes.   There is a digital Greatest Hits compilation  for 7.99.   Check out the track list.

  1. Blake Lewis – You Give Love a Bad Name  3:09
  2. Gina Glocksen – Paint It Black  3:21
  3. Melinda Doolittle – As Long As He Needs Me  2:59
  4. Chris Sligh – She’s Not There  2:02
  5. Sanjaya Malakar – Besame Mucho  3:42
  6. Lakisha Jones – This Ain’t a Love Song  3:57
  7. Chris Richardson – Smooth  4:05
  8. Haley Scarnato – Turn the Beat Around  3:30
  9. Stephanie Edwards – Love Hangover  2:43
  10. Brandon Rogers – You Can’t Hurry Love  2:56
  11. Phil Stacey – Blaze of Glory  4:48
  12. Jordin Sparks – This Is My Now  3:50

Greatest hits? Hmmm.   I would have swapped out Gina Glocksen’s  “Smile” for “Paint it Black” or pretty  any other Melinda Doolittle performance  for “As Long as He Needs Me.”   For Chris Richardson, I would have  chosen “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying” or “Change the World.”  I would download all three Chris Sligh performances–any one of them could have made an appearance on this compilation.

What do you think?

For you completists, $29.97  will fetch you  the  “Collector’s Edition”.   This digital compilation has  76 songs–every  Idol studio recording made during the season, except for  Jordin Sparks’ “Living on a Prayer.” (It was available on during the season, but has been dropped, for some reason).

All 76 songs are available as individual purchases for 99 cents.

Jordin Sparks’ and Blake Lewis’  tracks are available as mp3s at  until June 20th.   If you buy from the American Idol site, it’s not included on the Billboard Charts (19 has declined to send the figures to Soundscan)   So, if you’re a fan who likes to see your fav on the charts–you’ll want to purchase their EPs and individual singles from  iTunes.

No word on whether anything will be released on physical CDs.
