Ahead of the American Idol 2021 premiere on Sunday (Feb 14), check out another audition early release featuring Jason Warrior.

Jason should seem familiar to singing show fans. He made the rounds! First, he appeared on The Voice season 11, making it all the way to the Playoffs, after competing as a member of THREE TEAMS! (First Alicia Keys, followed by Adam Levine and then Blake Shelton.)

In 2016, he competed on the inaugural season of the FOX competition reality show The Four. He played an over-the-top bad boy who got in the faces of the judgesMeghan Trainor in particular–after he was eliminated. But he also made it fairly far on that 6 week series.

So now, it’s singing show three for Jason. What will he bring to the table this time?

Jason shares his disastrous The Four experience with the judges, Shots from the FOX show appear in the video package!

Actually, in his video package, JASON ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGES HIS SINGING SHOW PAST! That’s a thing that rarely, rarely happens. But it’s likely that in Jason’s case, the producers believe he’s got some cleanup to do. He DID act like an a** after his The Four elimination.

“I thought I knew it all, I thought I was a bag of chips, dip and hot sauce,” Jason says explaining his bad behavior. “But I wasn’t even close to being there yet. I had to have that humbling experience.”

Jason goes on to explain that the “moment of immaturity almost destroyed my career.”  He added, “doors started to close…opportunities started to walk away.”

Cut to the judges room. He promises he’s changed. “I was hurt, I was destroyed he explains to judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan. “I thought I couldn’t come back from that.”

The singer performs, Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On.” And he actually skips the oversinging that marked performances on the other shows. He has a really beautiful tone.

The judges praise his performance. “It took a lot of guts to crawl back into that saddle,” Lionel says.  Jason gets THREE YESES.

We’ll find out if Jason keeps that ego in check while under stress during Hollywood Week…
