American Idol 9 Top 20 Betting Odds

After the jump, check out this week’s American Idol betting odds. Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens are out front, but I have a feeling that won’t be for long. Andrew is a bit of a one-trick pony and Katie is overrated.

If Casey James, keeps singing well, he could end up the #1 boy. And, unlike the betting analysis in the article, I’m not counting out Lee Dewyze to move up. If Didi Benami can find the right songs, she’ll be a contender too. And Siobhan Magnus is a little dark horse…

Lily Scott is awesome, but I think she’s a little too quirky for Idol. Crystal Bowersox may be a little too rough around the edges, to rope in the causal fans, but we shall see.

  1. Siobhan and Todrick should be ranked higher than they are they have great vocal talent and are good performers. I like Alex Lambert too,but can kind of understand his ranking.

  2. There is no way Crystal will win Idol. She is too unlikable and her blase attitude turn off a lot of voters. She has great vocals but is not “current.” She will probably make the tour but not top 5. Think Carly Smithson.

Katie and Andrew Garcia have huge fan bases and will both make it until at least the top 5 and probably top 3. Same with Didi.

Casey James made a great first impression last week, and as we’ve seen with others (Jason, LaKisha), making a great first impression can carry you a long way.

Lilly Scott is kind of a dark horse, but she is likable and memorable. I think she could make top 5 or 6.

  3. Andrew one trick pony? come on we only had one live performance, we got to give him some chances. I would say Didi is a one trick pony. Lee doesn’t have the vocal controls to be compared to Cook so I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t make the top 10. Katie still has a chance I would think. the producer wouldn’t put her in the pimp spot if she is not good. they obviously know more about her than us.

  4. After watching Casey’s interviews on the AI site, I think he is definitely the guy to beat. He’s a talented guitarist, good looking, warm and self-effacing. He also reminds me of a young Jeff Bridges*, which could come in handy with the critical success of Crazy Heart. I think Casey’s mature and seasoned enough to know how to play the game too.

Still not sure which gal is his main competition (personally, my favorites are Crystal and Siobhan), but Casey actually has a very cool, understated personality without coming across ‘too cool for school’ (a la Crystal) or like he’s from another planet (like Siobhan). Didi has a good personality if she can keep herself from coming unglued when the going gets tough.

I like Andrew a lot, too, but that neck tattoo is going to disqualify him in in a lot of folks’ minds unless he starts wearing turtlenecks. He’s not terribly attractive either, and if Melinda Doolittle couldn’t win this popularity contest, then I don’t think Andrew can either.

Katie could get the “Glee votes,” so she’s a contender, but she doesn’t do much for me at this point.

*Yes, Law & Order fans, that is Sam Waterston!

  5. I so don’t see Katie stevens as a winner. We already have excellent pop vocalists with Kelly and Jordan and I don’t see yet what she would bring to the table.
Beside Katie, the ranking looks good to me except for Siobhan; i think she s/b ranked higher than Lee Dewize.

  6. I threw a popsicle stick at the tv when Randy Jackson compared Lee to David Cook. He’s okay but in no way is he as good as Cook.

I can see Katie Stevens making it probably to the Top 3, but for me, she’s going to become annoying. I’d like to see Casey, Didi and Siobhan do well. Andrew is a favorite of mine as well, but he needs to be mix it up a bit so he doesn’t become predictable and boring.

  7. Tim Urban could really increase his odds of winning by singing some easy sappy love ballads. I don’t really see Katie as winning especially being considered a frontrunner. I like Katie second after Siobhan don’t really like Andrew or Casey much, I just think they both pale in comparison to David Cook. I am hoping Siobhan gets into the finale.

  8. Agree on Katie (don’t think she’ll win, but she’ll go deep in the competition), disagree on Andrew. He might be a “one trick pony”, but people seem to be buying into his one trick. I think he’ll also go very deep in this competition-he seems to have a pretty sizeable fanbase already. I think Casey could go far, but I don’t see him placing higher than Andrew.

Still like Crystal but yeah, no way in hell she’s winning.

  9. Goooo Didi, Crystal, Siobhan! Maybe Katelyn if she continues to improve! Hehe, the stacked deck on the girls’ side really worked for me. I care very little for any of the guys at the moment.

  10. I threw a popsicle stick at the tv when Randy Jackson compared Lee to David Cook. He’s okay but in no way is he as good as Cook.

If I had a popsicle stick in my hand I would have thrown it too. All I had were expletives, but I used them well.

I think I am either a grumpy old bitch, my ears are not working or I am correct in my assertion that this year blows goats. Or maybe since I have my Cookie and I have my Glambert…I’m just over it!

  11. I am horrible at gambling, and don’t like it, but I’ll go out on a limb and say I agree with the bottom 5. :-)

  12. I threw a popsicle stick at the tv when Randy Jackson compared Lee to David Cook. He’s okay but in no way is he as good as Cook.

I actually do hear quite a bit of David Cook in him when I was looking at some of his songs on Youtube, for example here –

    So I’m Told http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9On8vvPr8Do

In other videos, not so much, but I like his singing –

    Predicament http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUd-H9PfZ4g
    The Beautiful People http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcxHPxltuvI

Randy mention Kings Of Leon, here is his performance of Use Somebody –
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2RpG-vTkqE

I do think he could do very well, top 5 perhaps, but he needs to be of about the pitch issue.

  13. The way Didi’s been able to spur sales of songs she’s covered makes me think she’s going to be a frontrunner if she can hold up under the pressure of the competition. I see Katelyn as a dark horse who should go far. She reminds me of Kelly Clarkson. NOT because I think Katelyn’s got as good a voice but I think she’s versatile and her voice will travel across the genres well like Kelly’s does from a bluesy pop base. Crystal seems destined for the outrageous ROBBED! boot slot and the 19 marketing machine wouldn’t fit her anyway. If Siobhan can give a watercooler performance then she could become a frontrunner but I don’t think the judges will ever want her to win. They wouldn’t know what to do with her or Crystal.

Casey seems like he’s one of the frontrunners among the guys but only if he can make smart song choices. It’s a matter of time IMO before Simon starts damning him with the faint praise of how he picks songs that hide his vocal weakness well. I don’t know how well Casey’s voice will travel across genres from week to week so he might need some luck so that he doesn’t get too many bad fit themes in a row. I do like his style though.

I’m not even a big fan of David Cook’s (blasphemy I know) and I was all What The….? when Randy compared Lee to him. Lee isn’t in David’s league vocally, no way.

  14. The more I think about it the more I think Casey is pulling out front. The girls are better singers overall than the boys but nobody seems an easy call on the girl side yet. Its still early… lets see what they do this week. If I had to grade them on contender potential 1-10 – I’d give Casey a 9 and give Andrew, Lily, Crystal, Didi, Sibohan and Katie 8s. All the 8s are close but they have one big thing to work on to get higher. Kaetyln and Lee get a 7. I don’t think the rest of them have a shot in hell.

  15. Nobody respects my favorite…Aaron. I do not think that he should be written off because of his age. I believe that he is the true sleeper/underdog in the group.

  16. Nobody respects my favorite…Aaron. I do not think that he should be written off because of his age. I believe that he is the true sleeper/underdog in the group.

I for one am not writing Aaron off because of his age. I’ve been writing him off because of his tendency to go off pitch and because he doesn’t seem to have his own identity yet. What I mean by that is yes it’s obvious he’s country pop but so far when he’s sung all I’ve heard is copycat versions of Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood songs (I listened to his versions of Bless The Broken Road and Jesus Take The Wheel too). Aaron has a lot of raw vocal talent and genuine country voice, don’t get me wrong. And if he makes the tour I think there’s a good chance of him being signed and developed by a major label. But right now he’s too unformed and inconsistent vocally to be a frontrunner for the show. JMO

  17. But right now he’s too unformed and inconsistent vocally to be a frontrunner for the show. JMO

Yeah, ditto. He could have been a contender with better vocals, since the show has never had a male country singer or a wholesome teen boy win before. But right now he’s being outclassed on the country front by Casey, the cute boy front by Tim (looks, not vocally), and the wholesome teen front by Katie (who I fully expect to be back to form tomorrow). I don’t see how he’s going to get enough attention to win at this point.

  18. Andrew one trick pony? come on we only had one live performance, we got to give him some chances. I would say Didi is a one trick pony. Lee doesn’t have the vocal controls to be compared to Cook so I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t make the top 10. Katie still has a chance I would think. the producer wouldn’t put her in the pimp spot if she is not good. they obviously know more about her than us.

.. but do they really know more than us? Remember when Lil got the pimp spot? Look how she turned out during the rest of the competition.

I’m still calling Andrew a one trick pony because every single performance he’s done (all 4 that we’ve heard) sound the same IMO. Now if he surprises us this week or sometime in the future, then sure, he can be a two trick pony.

I threw a popsicle stick at the tv when Randy Jackson compared Lee to David Cook. He’s okay but in no way is he as good as Cook.

Dang, I wish I had thought of that. But alas, like Elvis, I shot my TV to bits. Kind of dumb because now I have to buy a new TV. Oh well, I guess I should start eating popsicles when I watch Idol.
For what it’s worth, I think Casey will win. He’s cute, he can sing, he has a good personality & he’s from the South. All traits that make an Idol winner.

  20. I don’t like Casey or Lee. It’s probably because he reminds me of Gokey though…

  21. Hazehel, thanks for the video of Lee singing “So I’m Told” – he really does sound like David Cook there & so the comment is a valid one when he’s singing certain songs. I don’t think its fair to compare Lee at the moment to a very seasoned performer in David Cook- if Lee gains some confidence we will be able to tell more what he is like.
The ones with confidence already are Casey[ my favourite], Andrew & Crystal , oh & “Big Mike ” but he needs to pick the right song!! If some others can get over their nerves on stage then they will become more of a contender- if not then they will fade away!!

  22. Well I picked Lee to win it all in the pool but I am probably WRONG! LOL. I am always wrong. It will probably be Crystal or Andrew taking it all.

  23. Here’s my take on the two early favs — Andrew Garcia and Crystal Bowersox — NOT BLOODY LIKELY FOR THEM TO WIN THIS.

    Here’s why…

Crysal Bowersox definitely has talent. However, Idol really isn’t the venue for her. Her style is too nichey for a show like this. The Joan Osborne/Alanis Morrisette style does not fit the idol mould.

Her other problem is her non-challant attitude (if-it-happens-it-happens) reminds me a lot of the rocker, Amanda Overmyer. She does not show that she REALLY WANTS to win this, and that is a major turn-off for most people ( not to mention Simon ). Likeability is very important in this competition.

Look at Taylor Hicks. We all know that his style is very 70’s, and most realize that even if he were to win, his bluesy style isn’t going to sell in the current musical climate. However, Taylor had one thing going for him — His ability to game the show through sheer personality and quirkiness. This made people want to see him week after week after week.

Andrew Garcia will look lost without his guitar eventually. That instrument will be like the blanket is to Linus. Andrew’s style is too limited to the acoustic mould. I’m not confident that this will past muster when all the other theme nights arrive.

    Just my two cents worth.

  24. Casey James will definitely have the cougar vote and I would hate to see the same scenario play out again as it has in the past. I mean it just gets so ugly, in more ways than one. I was impressed with Casey’s very polished vocals and clean guitar playing, but the song didn’t blow me away.

I’ve read Tyler Grady was cougar bait, but I didn’t agree with that. His vote off reaffirmed it. Tim Urban might be a tween favorite along with Aaron Kelly. My 13 yr. old likes Aaron a lot. He is very sweet and his vocals are quite good, just needs more polish and experience. And isn’t that what IDOL is suppose to be about — you know, finding a diamond in the rough?

Again with the males, the fanbases are split. There are Park_Rangers and fans of Lee Dewyze as well. As I said Casey has the cougar vote. Andrew Garcia does seem to have, last check, the highest number of followers on his IDOL twitter account. I think he had twitter before IDOL with about 4,000 followers on it, if I’m not mistaken.

It’s both sad and funny how people seem to jump on the judges’ bandwagon with Kara, shouting out,”genius!” after Garcia’s performance. Granted it was cool, but we saw later that the guy can’t distinguish between what works and what doesn’t. I think the different genres will be difficult for everyone, but Katie Stevens who seems to be the typical American Idol vocalist. Siobhan also has strong vocals and I believe she has some high school stage performances under her belt.

Bowersox, Scott (favs), as well as, Didi, Lacy, et al might have a harder type with the totally dated, totally lame musical genres. They need to be able to put their own spin on things, but keep it sounding fresh and new. A tall order. I say this for Andrew, Casey, as well as, the rest of the guys.

I think we may be seeing some very amatuerish horrifying fails, harkening back to the early days of IDOL. We’ve seen quite a few to date and we’ve only just begun…

  25. I just remembered something that had made me go WTF when watching the show. Kara telling Lee Dewyze to do Bad Company was a total head scratcher. Bad Company! These judges are all over the map with their advice and it’s all bad.

  26. I think this week should make or break several kids. At this point the prize is there for anyone who really wants it. Lets see how smart some of the kids are! I remember Taylor really playing that camera even when he wasn’t singing. He knew that you didn’t have to be a great singer to win. Its in the beholders hands entirely and you have to capture their hearts and make them want to pick up that phone and vote.

  27. I agree with the bottom 7–except I like John Park-but he needs to choose better songs or he’ll be gone.

  28. I think this week should make or break several kids.

I agree. **ass talking alert** I think since no one had a clear water-cooler moment last week, the pimped need to step it up or start losing momentum ala Michael Johns, and the terrible people need to sing on key to ward off some of the backlash votes heading their way. LOL. 2 meh performances in a row at this point will put people in danger, IMO. Nobody can afford to coast anymore! **end ass talking alert**

eta: I think the underperforming pimpees are Didi, Katie and Andrew – I think the “you got a pass but you better not be terrible again” people are Haeyley, John, Lacey and Aaron mainly, because the rest of terrible are going home anyway IMO.. its just a matter of time. At least those 4 could make the tour. Tim could go deep but for all the wrong reasons. Heh.

We probably haven’t heard enough from Lee to really form a judgement or make a fair comparison. I remember listening to some of David Cook’ songs early Season 7, and I can’t say that I was impressed. In fact I’d go further to say that I prefer pre-Idol Lee’s songs than pre-Idol David Cook’s. I got to like David Cook slowly – his Hollywood round performance was good and got me interested, but I was only a fan by Billie Jean. So far I don’t have a good idea of how Lee might do week by week because we heard only little snippets of him before Top 24. I can’t say I’m impressed by his Snow Patrol song, but then I wasn’t impressed by Cook’s Happy Together either.

What Cook has shown as he progressed through Season 7 was his versatility, good singing skill and the ability to use his voice to the best advantage, plus a good sense of what works and what doesn’t. From what I have seen of Lee’s YouTube video so far, I’d say when he is good, he is really good (I think his Kings Of Leon’s Use Somebody I posted earlier is excellent), but he doesn’t seem to have a good handle on making the best use of his voice yet – there is something lacking in his expressivity and phrasing which can make some of his performance annoying. A couple here which I don’t quite like –

    Where You Lie – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgTVk1P43sg
    Sex On Fire – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgBptursCJM

I think he need to vary his singing a bit, a bit more light and shade, belting it out at 80-100% volume most of the time can be tiring to listen to. Still, I like him best of all the guys, the one I’d put my money on and I hope he can do really well.

  30. Haeley is going to win. People will gnash their teeth and bellow about it being a singing competition, and she will go on to sell 5 million albums.

I totally agree with all of this. Especially about Didi and Katelyn. I kinda forgot about Katelyn from her audition and through Hollywood, and wasn’t really expecting much from her last week, but I was pleasantly surprised. She wasn’t “OMG!INCREDIBLE” but solidly good. She could defintely be a little dark horse if she picks the right songs, but she will need a breakout performance. If Didi can make some good song choices and keep from falling apart, I think she’ll go far too. I agree that there’s no way Crystal or Lilly win, and I don’t see Siobhan winning either, honestly. Katie will probably make it far, but not win. So, IMO, that leaves Katelyn and Didi as the “chosen” ones. I expect to see pimping of them in the future. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Katelyn goes toward the end of the line-up this week.

I do like Andrew (although if the pimping keeps up, TPTB are going to make me NOT like him), but I agree that right now he’s coming off as a one-trick pony. I like Casey’s guitar playing, but I’m not blown away by his voice. I’ll be curious to see what else he can bring to the table. I absolutely HATED Lee’s version of “You Found Me” in Hollywood, and didn’t like him that much last week either. He’s gonna have to make me a fan, because I don’t like him so far. All the other guys are “meh” to me. This week will be make it or break it “for me for you.”

  32. I don’t know about the rest of you, but, if the Idol producers continue to shove Katie Stevens down our throats Carrie-and-Jordin-style, I’m done for this season. There’s just something snotty and entitled about this girl that I simply find off-putting (not to mention the fact that she’s not nearly as good a singer as her ludicrous level of hype indicates). That said, she appeared to get the largest number of votes last week (according to the always-reliable DialIdol), so someone must like her. As long as Katie still enjoys the show’s over-the-top pimping and public support, I still will consider her the front-runner, unfortunately. However, if the public begins to sour on Katie, I think that Didi Benami is probably the next-best choice to win the show. She seems to fit the description of the type of artist the producers are looking for this year, and is far more commercially viable – in both musical terms and looks (she once appeared in a pin-up calendar with former Survivor winner Parvati Shallow)- than the similarly-styled Lilly Scott, Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus. I could see Casey James making the finals this season, but there is just no way in hell that the producers will allow a guy to win three years in a row (even if they have to rig the votes themselves).

  33. I think it’s interesting that 6 of the bottom 8 on the odds list are guys. Since only 4 guys can go home in the next 2 weeks (and 4 girls will go), if the voting followed these odds, then 2 guys end up with an extra week or two to improve.

  34. My early gut feeling is that this season will come down to some combo of DiDi, Crystal, Lilly, or Siobhan, depending which brand of quirky America is feeling more, and which one will be smartest with the song selection. I’m predicting like a three anti-divas indie-chick storyline arc, kinda the mirror image of Season 3. But things can change, and there are some guys who have skills that can be polished like Garcia and the one hottie and Dewyze.

I actually do hear quite a bit of David Cook in him when I was looking at some of his songs on Youtube, for example here –

    So I’m Told http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9On8vvPr8Do

Hmmm, I don’t hear Cook in Dewyze at all. Course I was and am a big fan of Cookie’s pre-Idol stuff, but this song (I take it this is an original) has a twangier vibe than Cook’s stuff, plus Cookie’s got an awesomely dirrrty, seductive kind of grit to his voice and this dude does not. You know who I do hear, though, tonally? Adam Duritz, like a lot. Which is a good thing, just different kind of good thing.. Psssst, Lee- do not listen to Kara and cover Bad Company. Listen to sunchick and cover the Counting Crows version of Big Yellow Taxi, or, if you really want to take a risk, do the Counting Crow’s Colorblind. I’m tellin ya.

  35. I like Lee Dewyze best so far this year. I’ve listened to some of his original music and covers. To me, he is kind of a cross between David Cook and Kris Allen. Not exactly vocally but in the type of music he is doing. Sort of Kris with a harder edge, but a softer edge than David, but his music reminds me more of Kris’s. I just think he might be capable of the type of performances that they did, and I think that’s what Randy and Simon were trying to tell him.

I hadn’t seen this posted, but Lee Dewyze also did a cover of Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson acoustically on guitar, and I liked it. http://Beautiful People cover If he does this or something like this on Idol I think he’ll do well.

  36. You know who I do hear, though, tonally? Adam Duritz, like a lot.

Dead on. That’s exactly who he sounds like.

  37. I don’t get Andrew Garcia at all. OK, he has a decent voice, but he lacks stage charisma and personality. I agree that the backlash is coming if Simon Fuller and company continues to pimp him. I am with my majority that my favorite guy is Lee Dewyze.

  38. I’d love to see the odds at this time in past years.

I remember reading last year that in only one season (season 3) did the person with the best odds at Top 12 go on to win the competition. Probably still true–Kris was very mid-pack for a long time with the oddsmakers.

So much can happen. It’s so exciting.

  39. I think it ultimately boils down to whether these kids are flexible and resourceful enough to respond well to everything that’s thrown at them, week after week. In their own little spheres some of them may do great. But what ultimately counts is bringing it every single time, upping the ante, and rising above the pack consistently. It’s the difference between impressing people with a couple of tasty tunes, and giving them a big combination platter. Not sure if anyone in the bunch is up to it, and yes we can’t really call it yet. Right now a lot of them just seem lame, and whether the best are consistent is an open question.

I like Katelyn the best I think. I love her song last week and she has a pretty good voice and pretty. I like Didi from the audition , but I hope she won’t use her connection to Kara too much.
I like Crystal too, but I got a feeling that along the way, she will alienate some part of the audience. Lily is good too. It’s all about the girls for me this year.

My heart still belongs to Kris and none of the guys will compare to him favorably, I’m afraid.

  41. I’m thinking Katie, Didi, Alex, and Aaron in the top 10.

I’m kind of annoyed with Casey, i.e. I don’t see me voting for him.
    At least for right now.

  42. Andrew is fat and ugly.
    Do not want.

    *sigh* That’s shallow.

I’m on team Lee as of top 24 week. I hated his version of “You Found Me” during Hollyweek. I think he has potential for inprovement. Plus he reminds me of David C. Apparently my type of singer is WGWGs and a grit to their voice. Of coarse Lee is not as much as rocker as David. Well at least from what he’s shown me so far. He’s
like the love child of David C and Kris A.

  43. crystal has such a beautiful tone, it will be a shame if this talented girl doesnt make the top 4. she reminds me abit of kelly clarkson, in terms of talent. and i love that she has not watched this show and is coming into this situation a bit green.

same for alex lambert…kid has nerves of pudding, but he does have a nice voice that could be great if he just believed in himself. i think he and Lee could really give Andrew and Casey (another guy i like) a run for their money.

very disappointed in john park. if he doesnt kill it this week, he’ll be gone before the top 12

although katie stevens has a good voice, everything about her is season 1-4, nothing original. it will be a crime if she outlasts Didi or MammaSox.

i wont comment much on Haeley’s horrible goat voice and nasty gums. she looks like Gizmo, without the charm. (gremlin fans know what im talking about LOL)

  44. Andrew is fat and ugly.
    Do not want.

    *sigh* That’s shallow.

    I’m shallow.

And you are too, admiiiiiit ittttttt! ^___^

  45. I like Lee, Andrew, and Casey, and will probably buy whatever they put out post-Idol. That being said, if one of them wins this year, everyone who’s not a guy with a guitar shouldn’t even bother to audition any more. I’d rather see a girl win this year, for variety’s sake, and to keep some unpredictability in the show.

I think Didi is like Brooke White, and will crumble as the stress of the competition grows. I loved Brooke during the semis, I love her now, but I couldn’t wait for her to go home by the time she was voted off. I like Lilly and Crystal too, but they haven’t shown any versatility yet. Katie seems like she’s another pageanty kid who doesn’t connect emotionally to the songs. Siobahn is my pick for the win. She’s already showed some versatility, but there’s room for growth. She’s ripe for a makeover (she has pretty eyes and a nice smile, and looked great Thursday night). She’s got a big voice, and Simon was negative about her personality, which he’s done with the last 2 winners, LOL.

  46. It seems to me that Crystal has shown versatility when she sang “Natural Woman” during Hollywood and auditioned with Janis Joplin. I’m not so sure she’s going to win, but if she can learn how and does play the game (a la David Cook) I believe she has the vocal chops to go far.

Someone also mentioned she didn’t seem to care, but I think she cares very much, for her son’s sake. She at least wants to gain a platform for herself on idol.

I’ve loved her from the start and still hope she can do what needs to be done to go far.

  47. Siobahn is also my pick for the win, but it was a tough choice because I first selected Crystal. I then rewatched the show, and changed my selection because there is a vulnerability I like in Siobahn. Lily also has a crisp, clear voice. I really like all three and want them in the TOP 10.

With these three, I don’t see how Idol can ignore the Singer/Songwriter theme from the 1970s. I am thinking along the lines of Carole King and James Taylor. However, since Carly Simon has been in the news with You’re So Vain” – who is she talkin’ about? And, she has an album out right now… I think she would be a perfect mentor.

ETA: Carly still has a good voice and persona.

  48. Andrew is fat and ugly.

    Do not want.

Wow. And i thought you actually had a more concrete basis for disliking Andrew. FYI i have seen uglier and fatter contestants on Idol so yeah, he makes up for it with his wonderful talent.

And I just really want to spur some fans or people leaning towards Andrew here that trust me he ain’t a one trick pony!! We’ve only had 2 performances from him so far, i believe he has yet to blow it out of the water!! In fact, this way, he would not be seen as having no growth in the competition. I have seen many of his vids and i gotta say that Andrew is a natural born musician, so i do hope to see him surprising us, week after week. He definitely still has my vote!! ;)

  49. I still like Andrew best and don’t think he’s a 1 trick pony at all. You could say the same thing for more than one of the winners. Other favorites are Casey, Lee, and Didi who’s the only girl I really like. I don’t see a girl winning this season no matter how many times they say it.

  50. Andrew Garcia +400:

    Katie Stevens +400:

    Casey James +500:

    Crystal Bowersox +500:

If past seasons are any guide, I think that’s a realistic top 4 right there, but I’d put them in a slightly different order: Crystal (4th), Andrew (3rd – the Elliott/Melinda of this season), Casey and Katie (Top 2) – Casey wins.

For the record, I don’t think there’s anything special about Katie, (especially compared with last season’s Allison Ireheta) and it may be she just won’t be able to hack the stress and will be replaced by one of the other WGWGs or Haeley (if she can get her act together) as The Chosen One. I note that the Judges seem to lobby for the pretty young girls at least early in the season (remember Jasmine?).

  51. don’t see a girl winning this season no matter how many times they say it.

i do hope you are right bean99! I don’t have anything against the girls honestly, i think some of them are very talented e.g didi, lilly, crystal. However, i hate it when idol goes against viewers’ rights to choose and decide and instead stating that it’s gonna be a girl’s year. Just for this fact, tables will turn on them, exactly like Cook/Archie, like Kris/Adam.
