American Idol 2024 Top 7 Rankings, Facebook Stats, Poll Results – How would you rank the Top 7?

American Idol season 22 aired the last of 2024’s Sunday-Monday shows with a Top 10 on Sunday (April 28) and a Top 8 show on Monday’s episode (April 29). Real time voting meant that contestants were eliminated at the end of each episode. Host Ryan Seacrest announced the two singers that left at the end of The Top 10 “Year You Were Born” episode (Kayko and Mia Matthews) and a bottom two (Kaibrienne, McKenna Breinholt) for Monday’s Judges Song Contest. As the judge with the most songs picked by contestants, Katy Perry got to choose an artist to save–McKenna.

Katy’s choice was somewhat controversial. McKenna’s Facebook stats have been polling low for most of the season, while Kaibrienne has polled high on many occasions. Case in point–Kaibrienne’s video of her “Here Without You” on Top 10 night garnered the MOST views on Facebook. The next night, she left the competition. I bet she had more votes than McKenna. But we’ll never know.

Nevertheless, American Idol eliminations so far have been: Popular today! Not so much tomorrow. BYE BYE. Kayko earned the most Facebook views for his “Somebody That I Used to Know” video on Top 10 night. The following week at Top 8, he was gone.

Top 7 Rankings

7. McKenna Breinholt

McKenna Breinholt - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) MCKENNA BREINHOLT

McKenna only survived after Katy Perry saved her at the end of the Judges Song Contest episode last week over Kaibrienne. The singer’s Facebook numbers have been middle of the road at best. She’s probably going home this week.

6. Julia Gagnon

Julia Gagnon - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) JULIA GAGNON

Like McKenna, Julia has been a midpacker at best most of the season. Even her splashy cover of the classic song “Over The Rainbow” only polled in single digits on Facebook. Looking at her competition this week, she could very well be the second Platinum Ticket holder to leave the competition.

5. Will Moseley

Will Moseley - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) WILL MOSELEY

Will keeps trucking along, week after week, picking the types of soulful country songs that highlight his raspy vocals. His style is so easygoing, he seemed to be phoning it in up until his last couple of performances where he finally brought some urgency to the Idol stage.

4. Jack Blocker

Jack Blocker - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) JACK BLOCKER

On the other hand, Jack is playing the American Idol game like he’s in it to win it. He seems aware that he’s an underdog compared to Will and Triston Harper. What he lacks in vocal chops, he makes up for in style and unpredictability. He went from covering Cher’s “Believe” to making the country standard “You Were Always on My Mind” his own–all in one week. He’s the most interesting contestant left in the competition.

3. Triston Harper

Triston Harper - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) – TRISTON HARPER

We’ve been predicting an inevitable win for 15 year old Triston. But not so fast! The young singer might have shown all of his cards too early. He’s either hamming it up on stage Elvis Presley style, or singing earnest country weepers. The competition around him is firing on all cylinders. If he wants to win, he’s going to have to shift into a higher gear.

2. Emmy Russell

Emmy Russell - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) – EMMY RUSSELL

Emmy has the built in advantage of being the granddaughter of the late country legend, Loretta Lynn. But her secret sauce is that she doesn’t behave like a confident nepo baby. She isn’t afraid to show her vulnerability and insecurities on stage. Also, her style is different enough from her grandmother’s that she doesn’t come off as a copycat. Last week, she turned her grandmother’s song “Coal Miner’s Daughter” into a tender piano ballad. The Facebook video has garnered over 1.7M views so far! She’s attracting fans from across genres, probably and is a contender for the finale.

1. Abi Carter

Abi Carter - American Idol 2024
(Disney/Eric McCandless) ABI CARTER

Abi has earned consistently completive Facebook numbers all season and as a Platinum ticket holder, is a clear fan favorite. My bet is on Katy choosing her to sing with on the finale. Abi has proven herself to be a versatile singer and a talented songwriter. She could win the whole damn thing.

American Idol 2024 Top 7 Polls

Abi and Jack are your No. 1 and 2 favs across the board. I keep identifying dark horses (Mia, Kayko) for them to promptly leave the show. Heh. But watch out for Jack Blocker. He’s coming on strong! As far as the female singer songwriters are concerned, it looks like Abi will prevail and likely make the Top 5 or even the finale.

Which Eliminated Contestant Was Robbed?

Nobody was robbed/Kayko/Kaibrienne received roughly a 30 percent of the votes each. Other than lukewarm support for Mia, fans seems to be evenly split on the robbed question. Kayko and Kaibrinne both deserved to stay longer. Oh well.

  • Nobody was robbed – 31.34%
  • KAYKO – 31.34%
  • Kaibrienne – 28.92%
  • Mia Matthews – 8.40%

Facebook Statistics

Whoa. Emmy’s Coal Miner’s Daughter video got nearly two million views while Abi got near 1 million on Top 7 results night. Jack Blocker landed in a respectable 3rd place (But surprisingly, his out of the box “Believe” from the night before polled low).

Emmy Russell has been consistently popular all season. She’s got the country fans because her grandma is Loretta Lynn and because she’s more a folk/singer-songwriter type, she’s got a pop/indie following as well. Along with Abi, Emmy is also a contender for the finale. Early favorite, Triston Harper is slipping a little as others rise. But he still could win it all.
