American Idol 2019 went LIVE Monday night (April 15), and there were more than a few technical issues. For instance, Madison vandenburg and Walker Burrows seemed a little confused about what to do next after their names were called. Also, technically, it would be much simpler to keep host Ryan Seacrest on stage as he declared a contestant safe or in danger. That walk from the holding room to the stage was all kinds of awkward.
As far as the Top 10 is considered, I shared my feelings on the results in last night’s live blog. Other than switching Ashley Hess for Wade Cota, I’m good with the results. Also, in choosing a Wildcard, I would have gone with Ashley instead of Alyssa Raghu. When it’s a choice between and teen girl and mature woman, the judges will always choose youth, while rambling on about the singer’s “potential.”
Additionally, the judges–Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan–had to use Wildcards to ensure a diverse Top 10, and that’s disappointing. Both Dimitrius and Uche deserve their spots! Also America! What’s wrong with you only advancing two women out of seven contestants to the Top 10? With the addition of Alyssa, that’s a whopping three females vs seven males as finalists. Disappointing.
Next Sunday, American Idol will broadcast at the same time in all time zones! America will vote together. Two contestants will be eliminated in real time by the end of the episode. Actress Rebel Wilson will be on board to mentor the singers.
Time to vote!
