American Idol 2019 Finale Line Up: Find Out Who is Performing May 19

AMERICAN IDOL - "217" - The journey to find the next superstar continues as the remaining five Idol hopefuls leave it all on the stage, singing their hearts out to win America's vote and land themselves a spot in the coveted "American Idol" season finale. In this episode, each contestant will perform three songs: a pick from in-house mentor, Bobby Bones; a song dedicated to their heroes in honor of Mother's Day; and a selection from Elton John's world-renowned catalog. To help prepare for this week's theme, contestants will be the first to watch the highly anticipated feature film "Rocketman," an epic musical fantasy about the uncensored human story of Elton John's breakthrough years. During a live YouTube chat during Sunday’s American Idol Top 5 episode, a promo for next week’s live finale was unveiled. The three hour broadcast will air Sunday May 19 live coast to coast at 8 pm ET/5 PM PT on ABC. It’ll be a performance and results finale all rolled into one.

At the end of this week’s Top 5 episode, host Ryan Seacrest revealed Laine Hardy, Madison VanDerburg and Alejandro Aranda as the Top 3 finalists heading into next week’s finale. After receiving a hero’s welcome this week at the artist’s respective hometowns, the Top 3 will perform for your votes alongside some pretty special talent. Here’s what to expect on next Sunday’s finale:

  • American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood takes time out from her Cry Pretty tour to return to the Idol stage. 
  • Season 8 alum Adam Lambert, fresh off mentoring the singers during Queen week, will duet with Dimitrius Graham, along with performing his new single “New Eyes.”
  • Dan + Shay sings with Madison VanDenburg. The country duo performed Celebrity Duets earlier in the season
  • Country singer Jon Pardi duets with Laine Hardy.
  • Another former American Idol contestant, Kane Brown, duets with Alyssa Raghu
  • This is gonna be fun–Kool and the Gang will join forces with Uche
  • The rock band Weezer will perform with Wade Cota and Walker Burroughs
  • Alejandro Aranda performs and it’s “not to be missed” according to the promo. No duet for the artist?
  • Montell Jordan takes the stage with a few “character” contestants like Margie Mays, Austin Michael Robinson and VoKillz
  • Top 40 contestant Shayy performs with a surprise Grammy nominated singer.
  • Judge Luke Bryan duets with Laci Kaye Booth
  • Judge Katy Perry duets with Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon
  • Judge Lionel Richie sings with the Top 10
