The American Idol Season 15 Top 3 winners singles are OUT and available for download NOW! Here’s the rundown of all three singles: The Top 3 will perform the songs on the Wednesday April 6 1 hour final performance show.
Trent Harmon – “Falling” written by Dallas Davidson, Brett James & Keith Urban – Yep. Keith Urban is a co-writer on this track and he did a hell of a better job than Kara DioGuardi when SHE co-wrote the track for the Season 8 Top 2. I KNOW. A tree stump could have done a better job. Anyway. The song isn’t very radio friendly. It fits nowhere in any format I can think of. But the upside? The slow bluesy jam gives Trent the opportunity to show off his falsetto and stretch out his soul-filled phrasing. This has every possibility to be a vocal tour de force tomorrow night and literally a crowning moment for him. – Download from iTunes – Download from Amazon
Dalton Rapattoni – “Strike a Match” written by Nathan Barlowe & Chris Braide – Nathan Barlowe was formerly in a band called Luna Halo. You can find their stuff on Youtube. Chris Braide co-wrote “Space Between” with Sia on her This is Acting album. He has written for Britney Spears, Lea Michele, Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera and more. The upbeat, guitar driven power pop tune is perfect for Dalton and I can imagine a spot for it on pop or ac radio playlists. The lyrics are cheesy, but I for one cannot resist a hook-filled pop rock song. I like it. – Download from iTunes – Download from Amazon
La’Porsha Renae – “Battles” by Fancy Fancy Hagood – In-house mentor, Scott Borchetta, nabbed a song from Who is Fancy, a Big Machine Records artist you might remember when we covered him a while back. I’m not complaining. The song is not only modern and radio ready, but is thematically right in the singer’s female empowerment wheelhouse. Plus, she sounds terrific. I’m imagining the gospel choir tomorrow. This type of pop/r&b is what La’Porsha should pursue going forward. – Download from iTunes – Download from Amazon
