American Idol season 16 judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan not only stopped by Good Morning America to introduce themselves to fans, but they also did a slew of press interviews on the red carpet before resuming auditions in New York City. Check out a roundup of interviews below:

In an interview with New York Daily news, Katy Perry says she doesn’t to be be the next Simon Cowell: “The most challenging thing was trying to figure out was how to say ‘no’ to people at first,” Perry, 32, said at an “Idol” press event Wednesday. “I don’t think any of us believe in being nasty. What we believe in is being constructive, and giving constructive criticism,” Perry said. “Because it doesn’t help anyone, and people are really sensitive, and we understand because we all walked into a room like that at one time in our life.”  Luke Bryan added: “As artists, the thing we have trouble with is interrupting them mid-song.
