American Idol 14 Top 5 Poll Results and Predictions

MB2_1251_hires2

Tonight on American Idol, the Top 5 will perform TWO songs.  Or will they? The twitter save is over. The question is…how will the eliminations proceed? The singers have been rehearsing two songs, based on two vague themes “I Am What I Am/Soul Songs and Judges Hometowns. The week after the judges save was used on Qaasim Middleton, the two finalists who were eliminated, Maddie Walker and Adanna Duru, didn’t sing. They were called on stage with Rayvon Owen, who was of course, safe, like he always is! After the girls were sent home, Rayvon closed the night with his performance.  The following week, the twitter save was introduced, which pitted the bottom two against each other in a sing off.  Without any sort of “save” in play, will the eliminated contestant be allowed to sing anyway? I hope so.

Tonight is another elimination milestone. The 4 contestants who survive the elimination, will head home on Friday for the tradition American Idol hometown visit.

On with the poll results!

American Idol 14 – Top 6 – Favorite Performance

Jax’s performance of “White Flag” is the overwhelming favorite on the blog, with Clark Beckham’s “Boyfriend” coming in a distant second.  The singer had a moment for herself, for sure.  Too bad the song  wasn’t available on iTunes. I wish the Idols were able to record both songs. Damn budget cuts suck.

  1. Jax – White Flag 36.77%
  2. Clark Beckham – Boyfriend 13.58%
  3. Rayvon Owen – I’m Not the Only One 10.76%
  4. Quentin Alexander – Shake it Out 8.7%
  5. Clark Beckham – Yesterday 7.86%
  6. Nick Fradiani – Maggie Mae 7.32%
  7. Nick Fradiani – Harder to Breathe 4.96%
  8. Quentin Alexander – Light My Fire 2.82%
  9. Tyanna Jones – Party in the USA 2.29%
  10. Jax – Are You Gonna Be My Girl 1.98%
  11. Tyanna Jones – Heaven 1.83%
  12. Rayvon Owen – Go Your Own Way 1.13%

American Idol 14 – Top 6 – Favorite Contestant Overall

Clark Beckham is still #1, which does not surprise me. So much love for Quentin Alexander on the blog! I with America had felt the same way.  Ya’ll are digging Jax this week, too.

  1. Clark Beckham 32.32%
  2. Jax 24.24%
  3. Quentin Alexander 16.47%
  4. Nick Fradiani 13.52%
  5. Rayvon Owen 7.54%
  6. Tyanna Jones 5.91%

American Idol 14 – Top 6 – Who SHOULD go Home next week?

Over 40% of you are ready to see Rayvon hit the road. I can’t say that I blame you. Last week kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth. Rayvon is a good vocalist, but doesn’t have the star quality of Quentin, or even Joey Cook. I wish they were on the tour.

  1. Rayvon Owen 43.63%
  2. Tyanna Jones 35.38%
  3. Nick Fradiani 9.98%
  4. Jax 6.76%
  5. Clark Beckham 4.25%

American Idol 14 – Top 6 – Who WILL go Home next week?

Over 50% of you believe Rayvon Owen will finally go home this week. I think he’s in danger, but I’m not convinced he’ll be heading home. “I’m Not The Only One” was a GORGEOUS performance, while Tyanna Jones had a misstep with “Heaven” and a throw away, “Party in the USA.”  There is a theory that after folks save him on twitter, they forget to vote for him for the week. We can’t know for sure, because there is no data–but the weekly twitter vote likely includes a much smaller slice of the viewer pie than the regular vote.

  1. Rayvon Owen 48.58%
  2. Tyanna Jones 44.35%
  3. Nick Fradiani 3.25%
  4. Jax 2.52%
  5. Clark Beckham 1.3%

Prediction: I’m going to buck conventional wisdom and say that Tyanna Jones leaves the competition tonight, while Rayvon Owen lives to sing another week (and visit the folks back in Virginia).  If Rayvon doesn’t leave this week, he’ll be gone for sure next week.
