The American Idol 14 auditions took place in Nashville TN Wednesday. According to The Tennessean “hundreds” lined up for a shot on the upcoming season of the competitive singing show. However, some eyewitnesses claim the number could have been as high as 1000.
By 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, hundreds of aspiring pop stars packed the sidewalk surrounding Nashville Municipal Auditorium as “American Idol” brought its auditions back to Music City.
It was an impressive scene, but not quite as flashy as the reality TV show’s last visit to Nashville in 2010. Back then, it set up auditions at the larger Bridgestone Arena, and blocked off traffic on Lower Broadway for thousands of auditioners, family and friends.
No doubt, the numbers of hopefuls auditioning for the ratings challenged show is down, but you also have to consider the Idol bus tour which visited 11 cities around the country. Also, Idol is casting all over the country, at county fairs, FOX TV stations, music schools etc and many of those folks are skipping lines at the cattle calls.
American Idol alums, Danny Gokey (S8) and Janelle Arthur (S12) were on hand to meet the hopefuls and offer advice while they were waiting in line.
There will be one more major cattle call audition, taking place at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on September 29. The Tennessean reports that auditions in front of the celebrity judges–Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. will take place next week at an undisclosed location somewhere in Nashville.
