American Idol 13 Top 7 predictions! Who will be eliminated?

Last week, Alex Preston charted highest with “Every Breath You Take” but barely cracked the Top 100.  This week, Jena Irene’s cover of “Creep” made the top 50!  Alex placed just outside the Top 100.  Three idols did not crack the Top 400.

iTunes Rankings as of 1:10 pm

#49 Jena Irene – Creep
#109 Alex Preston – A Team
#152 Sam Woolf – Sail Away
#215 Caleb Johnson – Family Tree

Dexter Roberts, CJ Harris and Jessica Meuse are outside of the Top 400.

Favorite Top 7 Performance

Jena Irene runs away with this week’s poll! Almost 50% of you picked “Creep” as your favorite performance. Alex is second with 14% of the vote.  Everybody else scored under 20%, which means the other performances didn’t have a major impact on you.

Still, Alex isn’t going anywhere. At this point, I’m ready to call Alex Preston, Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson as the Top 3.

  1. Jena Irene – Creep 46.74%
  2. Alex Preston – A Team 14.79%
  3. Sam Woolf – Sail Away 14.66%
  4. Jessica Meuse – Gunpowder and Lead 10.53%
  5. Caleb Johnson – Family Tree 7.83%
  6. CJ Harris – Gravity 4.14%
  7. Dexter Roberts – Muckalee Creek Water 1%

Favorite Top 7 Duet, Trio

It’s no surprise that your favorite group number was Caleb and Irene’s “Gimme Shelter!” It won by even a wider margin than “Creep.”  The less said about “Compass,” the better.

American Idol 13 – Top 7 – Who SHOULD Go Home

Once again, CJ tops the poll of who SHOULD go home.  CJ’s solo performance last night was one of his best. Unfortunately, He brought down the trio with his pitch problems.  Still, I don’t think he deserves to go home yet. I’d much rather see Dexter Harris and his generic performances exit the contest.  CJ at least mixes some artistry into his performances.

  1. CJ Harris 38.27%
  2. Dexter Roberts 31.19%
  3. Jessica Meuse 12.8%
  4. Sam Woolf 11.63%
  5. Alex Preston 2.47%
  6. Jena Irene 2.27%
  7. Caleb Johnson 1.36%

American Idol 13 – Top 7 –Who WILL Go Home

Who WILL go home is another matter. CJ is going to end up in the bottom and may finally leave. But I think the other bottom dweller could be a surprise.  Jessica was the only finalist to receive negative feedback last night. Did the judges critiques garner her some sympathy votes? I don’t know. She’s never been in the bottom, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be eliminated, as Idol history shows. Also, she performed 2nd–considered the death spot.  She could be this season’s shock boot.  Or maybe Dexter Robert’s generic performance and solid judges critiques left him to fall through the cracks?  With Malaya Watson gone, Sam Woolf has taken over the “growth” arc. He did actually improve this week–he’s safe. I think Jess, CJ and Dexter, our Alabamians, will occupy the bottom this week.  Maybe that’s too many southerners to bottom out?  This week is a toughie.

  • CJ Harris 41.45%
  • Dexter Roberts 21.52%
  • Jessica Meuse 18.48%
  • Sam Woolf 14.28%
  • Caleb Johnson 1.93%
  • Alex Preston 1.17%
  • Jena Irene 1%

Prediction:  I’m going to go out on a limb here to say CJ Harris and one of Jess Meuse or Dexter Roberts will hit bottom 2.  I’m going to say Jessica Meuse is a shock boot. If no shock boot, then Dexter Roberts heads home.
