YOU GUYS. It’s the last Poll Results and Prediction post of the year! And once again, the results aren’t surprising.
An overwhelming 54% of you voted Candice Glover’s “I Who Have Nothing” as your favorite performance. Twenty-four percent of you voted for Kree Harrison’s “Up To The Mountain.” The reprise gets the win! Kree’s “All Cried Out” was 3rd with 12% of the vote.
The remaining three songs are bunched at the bottom with 3-4%% of the vote. Kree’s “Angel” comes in at the bottom. OK, I am surprised that “I Am Beautiful” scored only a 4%. While Kree had the better song (Kree’s song was penned by top-flight country tunesmiths. Candice got a co-write, but collaborated with the guy who plays drums on Glee and his girlfriend. Do the math.) Candice had the better performance. I felt she won that round. Simon Fuller’s picks are languishing at the bottom of the poll. Whoops.

The last polls of the season are the big ones.
Who should win American Idol? Candice Glover has the decisive win with 65% of the vote while Kree Harrison earned 35% of your votes.
In the “who will win” poll, the margins are slimmer, but Candice still prevails, with 56% of the vote versus Kree’s 44%.
My prediction
Honestly, if there were no Dial Idol, which is calling the competition for Candice, I would say Kree had this. Candice’s stellar performances won her the night, with her last performance, “I Who Have Nothing” standing as one of American Idol 12’s major moments. Candice’s body of work was also more consistent over the course of the season. Kree started off the competition with incredibly strong performances, but as the season wore on–for whatever reason–her light began to dim.
What Kree has in her favor is her preferred genre. Country music is incredibly popular, especially with American Idol voters. Plus, typically, fans make up their minds by the final and will vote for their favs no matter how they perform.
But it’s hard to ignore Dial Idol’s track record. They are mostly pretty useless at this point. The site’s predictions come from users employing their dial up software to vote. Seriously. Who even owns a computer with a modem these days? But the site has called the winner in every final competition, since its inception in Season 4. Eight for 8. But could the introduction of the super vote via smart phone have changed the playing field?
Or maybe Dial Idol is right. A lackluster Season 12 may have millions of casual viewers voting for contestants they aren’t particularly invested in. Therefore, the singer with the impressive performance earns America’s vote. That could very well be. And that would be Candice.
I didn’t even vote last night, because I don’t care who wins. They are both stunningly talented artists in their respective genres. Good luck to Kreedom and the Candy Girl!
But if I have to pick…I’m going with Candice Glover for the win.
