American Idol 10 Thursday Ratings Slip a Little but Hold Steady

Last night’s American Idol ratings results from Mediaweek:

American Idol opened with a very dominant 21.73 million viewers and a 7.2 rating/20 share among adults 18-49, which is quite an improvement over year-ago occupant Bones. While Bones, now at 9 p.m., is stronger out of Idol with 10.07 million viewers (#3) and a 3.3/ 9 among adults 18-49 (#2), retention out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Idol (Viewers: 23.08 million; A18-49: 7.7/21) was only 44 percent in total viewers and 43 percent in the demo.

Good News. That’s about equal with last week’s 21.8 million, 7.5 share.  American Idol holds steady!

Via TV By the Numbers:

American Idol’s 7.2 adults 18-49 rating was 4% lower than last Thursday, and just 8% behind last season’s fourth Wednesday’s 7.8 rating, far less than the typical (10-15%) annual declines. At 9pm, Bones‘ 3.3 rating was even with last Thursday’s.
