American Idol 10 Ratings: 1% rise from last week, 8% down from Last Year

American Idol ratings for last night via TVBytheNumbers

Of course Fox easily won the night as American Idol averaged a 7.7 rating with adults 18-49 and 23.5 million viewers. ‘Idol’ was up 1% from last week with adults 18-49, but down 8% versus last year’s comparable episode. But with 10% year/year declines being the recent norm, Fox can still say “Simon who?”

The final ratings for Monday’s  Dancing with the Stars premiere was  – 22.657 million viewers  and 5.3/15 A18-49.

There’s going to be a little rating battle between DWTS and Idol brewing. DWTS could win in total viewers for a few weeks, but I expect Idol to ultimately end on top.

Eta: Idol will probably win the 18-49 demo every week. But you know if DWTS beats Idol in viewers, ABC WILL send out that gloating press release.
